Married to an amazing man, Daniel, that keeps me on my toes and makes me better each day. I'm a Missile operator in the Air Force, and absolutely love my job. It's much different than anything you've ever heard of, but it's definitely the job for me. I love coming up with new things in the kitchen, and hope and pray that my husband likes them more than if his momma made it.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking savory and solid foods, real stick-to-your-ribs kinda foods. I'm talking chicken and beef and fish and potatoes and vegetables. Especially if it's not very healthy, I will cook it up quick.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making my own homemade spaghetti sauce. My grandma first started her own for my granddad years and years ago, much different than any spaghetti sauce you have ever had. So I play on that a little and when I make it, it's different everytime. (but my husband says it's the best he's ever had, so I'll stick with that)
My cooking triumphs
I make a M.E.A.N. chicken tortilla soup. I like my soup a little more bisque-y than others, so my friend taught me how to whip up a roux and it really adds a creamy touch that knocks it out of the park.
My cooking tragedies
Oh. My. Gosh. I was, like, 13 and decided to make brownies, but didn't have cooking oil. So, what does any intelligent future-housewife brownie-maker use instead? Not crisco shortening. So what did I use? Give you a hint... It turned out AWFUL. The brownies were in a 8x8 pan, and should have been about 2 inches tall. Uh, no. Try about 1/2" of brownie, and 1/2" solid lard on top. I did NOT tell anyone about that until just now.
