I am 95% southern girl. I have been cooking/baking for a couple of years now, and I love it. Not everything turns out perfect, but I just take it one recipe at a time. I love trying out completely new, different recipes and bringing somethig new to the table. My family is all cuban, so alot of that culture influences the food we eat. This also means I am bilingual, I speak Spanish and English. I have a twin sister who is also my cooking buddy. I love to cook with my family, it's an important part of our history. Dinner always brings us together at the table, and is the best part of the day! I never hesitate when it comes to trying new things, including food. In my free time I LOVE to read classic literature and listen to music. I like classic and hard rock. I also love photography.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I also love Italian food, the flavor and the spices are just great. I like to make southern food and cuban food also. I LOVE pork, and everything associated with it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad has always made THE BEST white seafood lasagna EVER. He makes it super rich and cheesy. It's like the special occasion meal in my family. My grandma makes all the traditional cuban dishes that are really hard to make, and they are awesome!! Whenever I go visit her in Florida, I try to learn new things.
My cooking triumphs
Butterginger cookies, pork marsala, and chocolate cake. I can make a pretty decent pot pie, and my pastas turn out pretty well-usually.
My cooking tragedies
I once made a red velvet cake that looked HORRIBLE! The frosting did not come out right, and it tasted ok, but I was still sad. I have also had alot of accidents involving hot oil-frying is not my thing!
