Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2015
Simple, quick, delicious. I usually don't write reviews unless they are phenomenal. This gets 5 stars for me because of how easy it is. I didn't have any bottled alfredo tonight but I had already started cooking the pasta. I chose this recipe because I had the ingredients (except for some of the vegetables). I used canned chicken and added a touch more milk. It worked out really well.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2014
I have made this twice. The first time I did it exact and it was wonderful. The second time I left out the butter and dropped bits of bisquit on it. And it was wonderful.

Christmas Fruitcake

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
This will be the third year in a row my father has asked for a fruitcake and the last recipe I will try as this was the best so far. I doubled the recipe and it made 3 small bread loaf (6X3) pans. The changes I made were mostly associated with the fruit choices and alcohol. We don't drink alcohol so I soaked the fruits in orange juice. I HONESTLY think any fruit will work, so I chose dried apricots, prunes, a few raisins and cut up frozen cherries. Instead of the citron (gross) I simply used grated orange peel and grated lemon peel. I also soaked those in the juice so they would soften. It has cooled down enough to try and it is moist with a nice flavor with the fruit adding a bit of sweetness. I don't plan on letting it sit much longer. We will eat ours and I will store my dad's in the fridge until Christmas next week.

Ham and Bean Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
I omit the sausage and bay leaves every time and always use leftover ham that I have frozen. This is a convenient recipe because I usually have the ingredients on hand. Even my hubby who doesn't like soup enjoys this. The flavors mix so well for a very delicious taste. You won't regret making this. Thanks for sharing.

Sunday Morning Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
I made the recipe as is (with the exception of 1/4 of the flour being wheat flour) and the kids loved them. They were the lightest, fluffiest pancake I have made from scratch. Next time, I plan to use all lemon juice instead of vinegar to sour the milk and I may reduce the poppy seed (just because I don't care for that flavor as much as the lemon). We ate it with blueberries and cool whip instead of syrup and it was a great combination of flavor. Thanks for a great recipe.

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2013
First time reviewing. 5 stars for taste but especially for how easy this was. I used my longer crockpot and made several layers starting with meat, cheeses, noodles and ending with meat again so the noodles wouldn't dry out. I cooked it for 3.5 hours on low, then shut it off for the next hour until dinner time. I used the no-bake noodles and just broke them to fit. I used a roll of the cheapest Italian sausage and then I added some leftover hamburger/spaghetti sauce I had frozen to it as well. I usually only make lasagna 2x a year but this is so easy (and so good) that I will make it on a regular basis now. That makes my family happy. In the future I plan to triple the meat/sauce and freeze it. Having the sauce ready will make the prep time about 10 minutes. Thanks for sharing.
