I tried this & loved it. I cut everything up the nite before, put the veggies in the crockpot, the meat in a separate container & the spices in a different container. we like it spicier so I heap the spoons of seasonings. I put the crockpot in the fridge over nite. next morning I assemble & start the crockpot. I find starting with a cold (out of fridge) crockpot, it takes a little longer to heat up but when you are gone for more than 9 hours it comes out really good. when I get home I start the rice & add the shrimp. I have given this recipe to a lot of people to try & they loved it too.
