Very Best Blueberry Cobbler!

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
OMG!!! I have to say this was the best dessert ever! My kids gobbled it up! I only made a few changes. I doubled the fruit, and used a combo of fresh blueberries, strawberries and some frozen raspberries(i like more fruit in my cobbler). I added 4 tablespoons of flour to the fruit and left everything else just as is. It cooked for 30 min. or so and was heavenly! perfect combo of sweet and tart! I like the juice in it and use the topping to soak it up. YUM! I am making another one now using frozen fruit, lets see how that one turns out! Smells good so far!

Easy Beer Bread Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
I have been searching for the perfect beer bread recipe and this hits the nail on the head! I left out the onion powder and the italian seasoning and increased the brown sugar to 1/3 cup and it tastes IDENTICAL to The tastefully simple stuff at a fraction of the cost! (I made several loaves with other recipes to get it to taste the same as the good box stuff and this is it!) I also made Jalapeno cheddar bread from it. When I add savory seasonings I use the amount of brown sugar posted in this recipe. If I am making plain bread I use the 1/3 cup! This is the best. It is different than using just self rising flour. I tried that as others have posted and it really is not the same texture. Go with this and you will never spend $5-6 a box again! Thanks for this recipe!

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Great recipe! I used olive oil and garlic instead of egg on the chicken and baked it in the oven for 30 min at 350. PERFECT! Served it with Angel hair and marinara. Thanks!

Saucy Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
I did this recipe, but I'll go 1 less step. I did not sautee the onions or add the butter. No need. Ever since I was a kid, my mom never used a recipe but made peppers without precooking everything. This was the only recipe I could find that did not ask you to do that. She thought I was nuts to precook all my ingredients. I used this recipe for the amounts. I used uncle Bens converted rice and added one egg to the meat mixture. I also added italian seasoning along with the salt (must be kosher or sea salt huge difference!)and pepper. I used 85% lean ground beef. I had enourmous peppers, (i used 4) so I halved them and layed them in a deep baking dish. Instead of tomato sauce I used 2 jars of marinara and 1 jar of water. I poured them over the stuffed peppers and loosly covered the baking pan. I baked it at 300 for 3 to 3 1/2 hours. They came out perfect! My baking dish was stoneware, so I do not know if that makes a difference, but it was great! The peppers were not way overcooked at all. Try it this way. It is soooo easy! Thanks!

Cream-Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Made the recipe just as written and these are AWESOME! (I only had peanut oil, it worked out fine)I am not one to try recipes without a rating, but this was just what I was looking for for my boys (OK, for me too). They Loved them!!! Cake part is moist, filling is great, and even the cook time was perfect! My son wants me to make these for his birthday party instead of a bakery birthday cake. Now that should tell you how good these are!

Green Punch

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
Made this for my kids haloween party with the dry ice.. OMG!! They LOVED it.. I put it in a black cauldron, and added gummy worms. It makes more than it states on the recipe. I made a double batch, and 1 was enough.. I also used sugar free jello and diet soda, cut the sugar in half... Could not even tell! Will use every year!

Better Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
These were probably the worst cookies I have ever made. The recipe calls for 1 Tablespoon of baking soda and that was all I could taste. I questioned it but followed the recipe anyway and should have followed my gut. We threw them all out.

Julian's Festive Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
WOW! I loved this. I used water packed tuna instead of olive oil packed to cut down on fat. I eye balled the cumin. (probably ended up being the same as in the recipe, I was sceptical, but don't skip this!! It makes the salad!) I did not have green chiles or fresh cilantro, but I had a large jar of HOT salsa, and added some of that. Love all the ingredients! SO healthy. I just added about 1-2 TBS of olive oil Mayo, and that smoothed it out, rather cut the heat a bit. I like it with and without the mayo. I had to add more salsa and cumin after I added the mayo. (I like it with a kick) The cumin really changes this and adds an awesome taste to this. My new Fav power lunch. I used lots of yellow, green, red and orange pepper. (I had all of that on hand) I had to let you know how great this is! I used to just mix a TBS of mayo and salsa to my can of tuna (My sis taught me that. I thought it was gross when I saw her do that, but it is good) I will never do that again. Can't wait to have my sis taste this one... SSSOOOOO YUMMY! THANKS!!!!

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
I made this last New Years and it was the best prime rib ever. I will be serving this for Christmas dinner this year. I cooked one boneless roast and a bone in roast. Both were cooked to med rare and were good, but the bone in comes out better for some reason. (longer cook time = more tender roast?) Me and my guests thank you!

Easy Spicy Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
These are really really good. I made as written, but used a bit less garlic powder and used some fresh garlic. I used Kosher sea salt, and they were a bit saltier than I would like (I like salt too!) I would just use either more potatoes (who does not like leftovers??), or a bit less oil and salt. I did use 1 extra potato than called for. My family GOBBLED them up! Great with the cheese, and without. They liked the cheese on these better than without. I might add more onion too. My kids do not eat skin on potatoes, or care for oniions, and they did not think twice about eating these with the skin, and I do not think they even noticed the onion. YUMMMMMMMY will be making again with the changes. Thank you for a great recioe. I bet these would be good with just about any seasoning you want to add. We loved the Chili powder kick!

Messy Taco Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
YUMMM. I was looking for one like my mom used to make for our family when we were kids. I also add the tomatoes and the olives. LOVE this. The 1000 island really makes this recipe. Its kinda the equivalent of the "secret sauce" on a big mac! Thanks for this recipe!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
This was really good, but I DOUBLED the fruit, did not double the other ingredients, (but used 4T of flour, and I think the 3 would have been fine, I like my fruit crunch a little more "saucey") and it was really good. I would actually prefered even more fruit and will do that next time. I added cinnamon into the topping, and used 3/4 cup of the butter. I used splenda brown sugar as well so that it EQUALED 1c. (you use 1/2 of the splenda that you would use with regular brown sugar) Oh I made my topping in my food processor.. so easy!

Zucchini Pineapple Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
This was just wonderful.. I made a couple changes that I had read from other reviewers: used 1/2 brown sugar, half white: I used splenda brown sugar instead of regular. You use 1/2 the measurement as regular brown so I used the amount to EQUAL 3/4 cup. I used 1/2 c applesauce for 1/2 of the oil, and used 1 c. wheat flour. I just bought pastery whole wheat flour so I might try that for the entire recipe. I did use generously measured cups of zucchini, so it was a bit more that 2c. I will add more cinnamon next time. Soooo good. The pineapple makes this so very wonderful. I did not have crushed, so I pureed some chunk pineapple, worked just fine! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe!

Easy Mexican Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
This was wonderful. I just cut the tomato sauce down to 8 oz can, did not add the lettuce or beans. I kept the beans on the side so the kids would eat it, but I added my own beans when I ate it. I added a can of mexican corn. I also had cooked the rice with the tomatoes the entire cooking time. Family loved it. SO HEALTHY!

OMG!! I had this recipe 7 years ago and lost it! THANK YOU THANK YOU!! You made my summer:-)It is just to DIE FOR!!! I am going to make more now. Made this for a luau party and it was a HUGE hit. YYUUUMMMMM I just keep my pretzles in a snap lock container and add them to each bowl. Keeps a long time that way. And I make extra of those pretzles. (use the same amount of butter and sugar, just more pretzles) I can't stop eating them either!

Fruit Cocktail Cake VI

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
My mom used to make this when I was a kid. It is soooo good. I call it ugly cake because it is not an attractive cake what so ever, but 1 bite and you are in ooey, gooey heaven! My husband turned his nose up at it when I told him the name and he saw it. He even said "what the heck is that thing" But he did try it and he LOVED it! (he is not even a coconut fan...) We had friends over and he could not stop telling them about how good this cake was! (of couse making them taste it too)I only wish it was better for the waist line! Oh well, better get back to running, because, I refuse to give this cake up;O) Thanks for this recipe, just like Mom used to make.
