For a living I work in the business office of a nursing home. My hobbies are being a member of a women's acapella chorus and a quartet named After Hours. In addition, in my spare time, I love creating beaded jewelry.
My favorite things to cook
Low fat, tasty green veggies with lots of garlic!
My favorite family cooking traditions
After my aging father who was a professional chef for 45 years became too frail to prepare our traditional family meals at holiday's, I became the next in line for the job; and hopefully everyone is pleased with the results! Although I'm not claiming to be nearly the chef my father was, I continue to strive to his perfection. He was so talented that he was able to walk into the house and not only tell by smell what I was cooking, but decipher the ingredients, and tell if something was missing; pure cooking genius!
My cooking triumphs
If I was able to provide a holiday meal without advise on "how I can do it better next time" from my father I felt it an accomplishment.
My cooking tragedies
I recall two very distinctly. . .
I was making a duck for the first time for my husband when we were newlyweds, it was not only non-edible by us, but our dog didn't want it either!
Second, I had planned to grill game hens for friends we had over for the first time. Without knowing it, we ran out of propane and didn't didn't get done until two hours later and the hens we still not completely done; oops!
