At the present time, I am a diabetic that is trying to get this disease under control. My glucose numbers range from 200-the high 400's daily.
Being that I'm Italian & Irish, meals have always been meat, potatoes and vegetables or pasta which do not work well with diabetes!
I appreciate all the recipes posted here, but am looking for low carb, flavorful recipes.

My favorite family cooking traditions
I was born the 13th child from a family with 16 children, and although we didn't have alot growing up, holidays were the happiest times and were always centered around the meal.
Mother would grocery shop for a week beforehand. She only made her specialty, Baked Rice Pudding on Thanksgiving. She'd bake it in an old, large, heavy, thick, bowl and would set it outside in the snow to cool.
Dad had his secret recipe for sage stuffing, and would only shop certain meat markets, grocers for the ingredients. Every Thanksgiving morning we'd wake up to the smell of Dad preparing his stuffing.
Mom always had the TV tuned to the Macy's Parade until the Packer/Lions game aired. Mother was a devoted Lions fan, and Dad loved his Green Bay Packers so they would razz each other all day the teams, as us kids would search high and low for enough chairs, tables, glasses etc. for everyone. By halftime, all the food was on the table, the kids were clean and seated, and Dad would say grace.
