About this Cook
Love to cook, ride my motorcycle and belly dance, hang out with my alaskan malamutes - who feel the need to sit under my legs while I am cooking!!!
My favorite things to cook
I love greek cuisine, italian, jewish food, and making traditional New England comfort food. Soups and sauces!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and I spend the weekend after Thanksgiving making all types of Christmas/Channukkah pastry (raspberry strudel, swedish tea cookies, soft ginger snaps, peppermint pattie cookies, etc) and cookies to pass out to friends and clients. My other tradition was brought in by my husband, Matt. When we were first dating, he made the only thing he felt he excelled at - white chicken enchilladas. He won me over! Now every time he wants to impress someone, we make it together!
My cooking triumphs
I can finally make my own bread and pizza - it's been a long battle, but now I am comfortable with yeast. Soup seems to be my new forte, and low carb cooking
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list, but my husband says my stuffed zucchini recipe is weird. Some of the low carb things I have tried to create have been...well, unmentionable!!!

Garlic Mashed Cauliflower
Omg!!! This is fab!! I'm a low carber and hesitant to try this.....I don't like cauliflower normally. But I needed something different to go with prime rib, and I am thrilled. The only change/addition I made was extra cream cheese and melted butter. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Chocolate Chip Orange Zucchini Bread
The firat time I made this, I was still wanting more chocolate, less orange....but I will say that it was nice and moist, and the bread had a nice flavor, not too sweet or spicy, but enough. The second time I made it, I used more chocolate, and left out the orange - and it was exactly as I liked. Still good base recipe, thanks!

Clone of a Cinnabon
First, I am only giving it 3 stars because they did not cook all the way through at 400 for 15 minutes. The middle roll was still very very doughy. Not sure if I need to increase the time and reduce the temp next time - but I will make these again. Otherwise, the end rolls and tops were beautiful, and very tasty!!! The dough rose beautifully and the (cooked) pastry was not hard or brick like (as stated by other reviewers. I did use a bread machine, and did let them rise again in the pan.
