Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2004
This was just OK. Definately didn't need to add the 1 tsp of salt with so much salt already in the bouillon and soy sauce.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2004
These are marvelous!! Moist and filling. I only had about 1 1/2 C of grated carrots - wasn't a problem. Left out the walnuts. It took me about 25 minutes to bake them. An entire cup of oil at first made me leery, but it's simple to replace the oil with applesauce. These muffins are worth the time!

No Bake Choco-Peanut-Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2004
Very good! I needed a quick recipe to take to an event and I was VERY low on groceries. This fit the bill perfectly! I had no flour on hand and was almost out of milk. I added sweetened condensed milk (1/4cup) to meet the 1/2 cup milk requirement. I doubled the vanilla as suggested - glad I did. Only had smooth peanut butter on hand, which worked fine. Next time I'd like to try crunchy. My kids enjoyed doing this recipe with me.

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2004
Oh my! Oh my! This was a last-minute dish for me as I needed something to bring to a pot-luch brunch. It was the star dish! I must confess that I've never used store-bought dough before (I'm a from-scratch girl). It was a very easy recipe to make. I halved the filling as some suggested and found that I may use the full amount next time. But it certainly was delicious this way (and a bit healthier too!). I too found the dough to be a bit tricky to cover a 9*13 dish, but I managed to make it work. I realized that I had no lemon juice on hand (yikes!) and so I mixed up a tablespoon of really strong lemonade.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2004
MMMMmmmmmmm!!! I loved this marinade. I left out the smoke flavoring and the cayenne as I didn't have any...and it was still delicious. I will probably cut down a bit on the garlic next time (perhaps 2 or 2 1/2 T instead of the 3T listed). I used 2 sirloin steaks, marinated them for 24 hrs and they grilled up beautifully.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2004
So good!!!!! I took this out to our church camp and it was the first thing to go! I used to make this a long time ago and lost the recipe. I'm so glad to have found it again. Thanks Brian! One note: go through your popcorn carefully picking out all the kernals before coating it.

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
Made these on the weekend and boy I'm a fan! With 3 young kids, morning time can be busy and these wraps are just great for my husband to grab for his lunch. I think next time I will add some salsa for added flavor and will use the recomended pepper jack cheese (only had cheddar on hand). Be warned - it makes a ton!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
Oh My!!! Wonderful! My family LOVED this - kids and all. I left out the olives (didn't have any and used sharp cheddar cheese. I found I didn't have to be too picky with the ingredients. I look forward to making this again and changing things up a bit. Boy it makes a ton (couldn't fit it into my casserole dish)! I used the leftover beans and tomatoes in a hearty soup from this site.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2004
I would actually give these a 4 and a half stars. They were quite yummy. Be careful to not overcook as they do dry out. Great recipe. I think real die-hard chocolate-lovers would give these a 10-star rating!

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
I LOVE THIS BREAD!!! Even my husband, who doesn't like nuts in his bread gobbled this right up! I'm craving another loaf already. Delicious toasted with peanut butter. We've been looking for a way to get more flax seed into our diet and we think we've found one way... I'm so glad you shared this recipe, Erna!

Roasted Lemon Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
I made this last night and will DEFINATELY make it again. Beautiful! After cooking I had to drain off a lot of fat (the oil) , but the gravy was fantastic - wonderfully different lemon flavor! I would most certainly recommend this recipe. One substitution: used 6T of lemon juice instead of lemons. One suggestion: ignore recommended cooking time in the actual recipe and follow what it says up top under 'Prep Time' and 'Cooking Time'.

Blueberry Waffles with Fast Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2004
Wonderful syrup recipe! I didn't make the waffles this time but served the syrup over homemade blueberry pancakes. My husband and I are trying to eat a bit healthier and are so glad to have found a replacement to Aunt Jemima's (which has more sugar than I realized). I used frozen berries and a bit less honey than recommended. I also did not have OJ on hand and used a tropical berry juice. Not bad at all but look forward to trying the original recipe. This syrup will from now on be part of our Sunday post-church brunch!

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2004
I've made this dish a few times now and thought it was time to rate it. DELICIOUS!!! I like it better each time we've tried it. I have used 10in tortilla shells and prefer cheddar to mozza. I think I will also replace the yogurt with some sour cream. Super leftovers! Tip: grease your dish well. Thanks for sharing this dish, Vanessa!

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2003
This has replaced my old choc chip cookie recipe! It was delicious - soft and moist. Great fun for my kids to help out with. Following other reviewers, I removed about 1 1/2C batter before I baked it (and I have a 14in pizza pan!). That worked well, although I should have decreased the baking time a few minutes. I'll probably make this for our next kid's b-day party and have fun decorating it. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Barb!

Classic Greek Spinach

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2003
Sorry but we did not like this one bit - but don't be misled by our rating. Maybe we just plain don't like Greek dishes. This recipe was a bit of an experiment for us. Following other reviews I too cut the oil down - used about 1/3C, which was plenty.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
Delicious! Quite rich, so I won't make it too often, but definately a keeper. Next time I will leave off the bacon - enough taste without it. I cut the mustard in 1/2 and it still worked well!
