Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
Great recipe. I substitute 1c. of water with 1 cup of regular coffee at room temp. It brings out the chocolate and makes the cake taste homemade and old fashioned. I frost with Hrsheys Chocolate Frosting recip on the cocoa box. This is a great recipe when you have excess condiments that need to be used up, or no eggs and veg oil on hand.

Old-Fashioned Macaroni, Tomato, and Cheese Bake

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
Just reduce the black pepper to 1 teaspoon and fix the prep process and this is a magnificent dish. Perhaps the author goofed when posting 1 tbs. of pepper, because that is waaaay too much. It's overpowering and you can't taste anything but heat. This dish was so beautiful, and the ingredients seemed to be so spot on that I decided to give it another try with less pepper-- and I was right. There isn't a person I've served this to who hasn't asked me for the recipe or additional helpings to bring home with them. I don't measure the paprika; I just sprinkle whatever amount looks nice across the top. PREP CORRECTION: throw drained mac in a seperate bowl, and then add butter, cheddar & toms. Mix well. Pour that into prepared 13x9 casserole dish. Then pour liquid mixture from blender all over top of maccaroni mixture. Sprinkle entire top with paprika so it looks nice and even. YUM!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
Outstanding! The smell of the cardamom and cinnamon is so wonderful. The pods are great, too, because it lends its flavors as a teaser. This reminds me of a kind of rice pudding I used to have at an Afghan restaurant, except this doesn't have almond slivers and ultra thin angel hair pieces mixed in. The person who posted this knows what she's doing with food; she has another great chicken recipe under "Shish Tawook." I highly recommend it as an entree and this as a dessert! Tip: I couldn't find a package marked short grain rice, so I used medium grain river rice and didn't have a problem.

Shish Tawook Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
This is the best chicken kabob recipe you'll ever find. It's perfect the way it is-- no need to alter a thing. My husband is a very picky Syrian who is used to the best Middle Eastern dishes (his mother is an old-fashioned arab kitchen whiz), and this is tops in his opinion. Serve it with Toum (the kind that's simply made by blending garlic cloves with drizzles of olive oil and dashes of salt-- there is one on this site if you don't have a Middle Eastern grocer who carries it fresh).
