Cranberry Cornmeal Linzer Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
This is A CRANBERRY LOVER'S DREAM! I had never used cornmeal in a cookie recipe before so I was curious as to how it would taste. The cookie was so delicate and with the burst of cranberry filling it was just divine! My only change was to sprinkle the finished cookie with confectioner's sugar. Larkspur, you really out did yourself on this one! Thanks for sharing!

Simple Beef Flavored Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2013
What an AMAZING recipe! I made this last week following the directions to the "t". I was amazed at how simple it was to make with all the ingredients I had on hand. This week I changed the bouillon from beef to chicken and it was just as amazing. Next week is Thanksgiving and I must find some turkey bouillon! There is never enough gravy for leftovers. This year will be different! Thank you Sal for sharing your AMAZING recipe and wishing you the best for the holidays!

Chef John's Cheesy Crackers

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
FLAVORFUL! Watching the video, prior to making, made this recipe so easy to do. I used Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Cheddar and Kraft Parmesan Cheese, as it was what I had on hand. It took a little less than half the 8oz. pkg. of cheddar. The only change I made was to sprinkle with coarse salt before baking. The baking time was perfect and they puffed up nicely. I was surprised that they did not stick to the baking sheet. Such a FLAVORFUL cracker! Thank you Chef John, you've done it again!

Peanut Butter Meltaways

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2013
OH MY GOODNESS!! This certainly has the right name. "Meltaway" says it all. Tastes just like a peanut butter cup that melts in your mouth...not in your hand. (sorry couldn't help myself). They were so easy to make and the finished texture really surprised me. I thought they would be soft. They set up beautifully without any refrigeration. These definitely are going to be a part of my candy tray this year! Thanks for sharing, Christina! You rock!!

Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
WOW! What a treat! The only trick here is hiding them from Hubby. I never had peanut butter popcorn before, love it! I'm thinking maybe of drizzling them with melted chocolate, after all, I am a chocoholic! Lilcat, you certainly have a great recipe here. Thanks for sharing!

Ham and Pineapple Kabobs

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2013
YUM! We really enjoyed this recipe. I had left-over ham in the freezer and this made a nice addition to our usual recipes. I used a fresh pineapple in place of canned. The sauce was very tasty but there was not enough to richly glaze. While grilling I had to run back in the house and make more. I suggest you double the sauce. I will be making this again and adding it to my "ham" folder in my recipe box. This was very quick and easy to make. I served it with white rice and stewed tomatoes. Thank you Lindsay Perejma for sharing!

Sarah's Christmas Pimento Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
WINNER! We really enjoyed this recipe. I ended up with a couple changes. I skipped the hot sauce, used an 8oz. bag of shredded sharp cheese, and a whole 4 oz. jar of pimientos. I was tasting as I made it and just kept adding the pimientos because it kept getting better. I used my electric mixer to blend. This has been printed and added to my recipe book! Thanks for sharing Sarah!

Onion & Garlic Biscuit Flat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2013
SUPER GOOD! Hubby claimed this better than Texas Toast! I loved the parmesan flavor. Not having a garlic clove, I substituted garlic salt. YUM! Thanks belle for sharing and I sure hope this gets published soon!

Jewish Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2013
LOVED IT! I used mini bundt pans to make the recipe easy to share. They only took about 30 minutes to bake, making 10 little cakes. Because the pans were small, I cut the apple slices in half. Other than that, I followed the recipe making no changes to the ingredients or the temperature. Thank you Shirleyo for sharing such a wonderful recipe!

Slow-Roasted Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2013
FANTASTIC! Nothing makes me happier than finding a recipe that I know I'll use over and over. This is one! I have been wanting to make this for a while now, but didn't have the right thermometer. While shopping, I found a roast with a built in thermometer that pops when it's done. I followed the recipe for slow cooking, knowing the button would "pop" when done. Oh, do I feel like I was cheating! I used my electric slicer to cut as thin as possible. It was hard to keep from eating, in fact, I had several slices! Having done that, I can tell you I am so looking forward to dinner! The seasoning of garlic and pepper was PERFECT! Thank you Brian for sharing your FANTASTIC recipe!!

Jan's Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
YUM! I replaced the chocolate chips with a container of Reese's Peanut Butter dessert toppings as it was all I had. Because the container was only 4 ozs. I divided the ingredients by 3. I followed Keni's lead and used my Wilton mini loaf pans because I wasn't sure how much batter there would be. 30 minutes baking time at 325 degrees was perfect. This made 3 mini loafs which is more than enough for Hubby and me. We certainly enjoyed this recipe, Jan. You never let me down. Now to go put them in the freezer with my pretzel dogs! Thanks for sharing WFDM!!

How to Make Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
EXCELLENT! Chef John has never let me down. This recipe was so easy, I found myself giving it over the phone to a friend without even looking at the recipe. I watched the video first which is always a plus. I did make one change and that was to use vanilla bean paste in place of vanilla extract. I like seeing the vanilla beans in the ice cream and the flavor was oh so good!!! Thank you Chef John for sharing such an EXCELLENT recipe! I will be making this many times over!

Karen's Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
NICE! This is a very nice recipe for fried green tomatoes. I mixed the sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl then seasoned the tomatoes. I would have liked to have seen the flour stick better to the tomatoes but it could have been the type tomato I used had a smoother skin. This makes a nice side vegetable for seafood. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Brandilynn7!

Sweet Bell Pepper Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2013
5 STARS! Tonight I was baking fish and looking for a different side dish. Hubby loves rice so I was pretty sure he would like this. I made the mistake of chopping the onions and peppers together so I stirred the peppers in with the onions from the start. It wasn't a problem. I didn't have any red peppers so when the dish was all finished I added a few seeded and diced grape tomatoes for color. I also enjoyed the taste of them in it. I used fresh basil from my garden. This was not only a beautiful dish, it was a very tasty one as well. I saw Hubby go back for thirds! There are no leftovers. Thank you Joey for sharing your recipe! It's a KEEPER!

Onion Soup Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
JUST LIKE THE REAL THING! I followed this recipe exactly with no changes. I love the fact that it is equivalent to one package. It was exactly what I needed with no waste. It was simple to do so it's not a problem to make it fresh as I need it. I made meatloaf for dinner and Hubby claimed it to be one of the best I have ever made. Of course, I didn't write down what I did so I only hope to duplicate it another time. This recipe will be used over and over again. It's just like the real thing if not better! Thanks for sharing your recipe mamakittyto3!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
WONDERFUL recipe! I had never made tortillas before so this was all new to me. I was inspired to make these by Deb C's photo. Reading her review I followed her lead and made it in my food processor. It was so easy. I watched the video because I wasn't sure how to cook them. I didn't know if I should oil the pan or not. Answer "no". When it came time for clean up, and I did make a huge mess, I remembered Marianne's tip of using cold water NOT hot when cleaning up flour. It made clean up so easy. Hubby was the first to try these and after first bite he said, "Oh you're gonna like this!" I DID! The nice part is I have plenty left over. Thank you La Donna for sharing such a WONDERFUL recipe!

Rice pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2013
CREAMY DELICIOUS! I used left-over rice to make this recipe. When adding the egg, I first mixed it with the 1/2 cup of milk and slowly added it to the pudding for fear of cooking the egg. Other than that, I followed the instructions exactly. Hubby requested raisins so I plumped a few and added them to his share of pudding. Next time I think I will just sprinkle cinnamon on top when serving rather than mix it in. Just a personal preference. We really enjoyed this CREAMY DELICIOUS recipe! Thanks for sharing Sassy!

REALLY Real Strawberry Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2013
YUM! You can really taste the strawberry flavor! It's not that often that I get to play with my magic bullet. Watching the freeze dried strawberries turn to powder was fun. The recipe was really quick and easy to do. The hardest part was waiting for them to cool. Actually, they were warm when we had our first. (Hubby made me do it). I frosted them with "Real Strawberry Frosting" from this site which is another of Candice's prize recipes. I made no changes to the recipe. I got 18 cupcakes and they took 18 minutes to bake. Thank you Candice for sharing such a YUMMY recipe!
