Savory Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
This was just not to our liking. We found it to be a little mushy. Perhaps seasoned bread crumbs would have given it more flavor. Through the years I had always used Campbell's tomato soup on top of my meatloaf so I really thought we would enjoy this recipe. I will continue to use it, just not inside the meatloaf.

Cabbage on the Grill

GREAT! I just loved this side dish. It's one that I could eat every night. Seasoned to taste makes it just right! Thank you Debbie for sharing. I only wish I had seen it sooner.

Olive Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
EXCELLENT! I love olives and I love these! This was not as time consuming as I thought it would be. The olives were easy to cover. I did leave out the salt as I felt they would be salty enough. I rolled them in walnuts as they are my favorite. I refrigerated them 30 minutes before slicing with a serated knife that was wiped clean after each slice for a clean cut. Thank you HSHELTON25 for such an EXCELLENT recipe! These will be served for sure when the family gets together for the holidays.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
AMAZING! This recipe is an "OMGoodness, I impressed myself recipe"! No changes are needed to be made. I didn't have bread flour so I added 3 Tbsp. of vital wheat gluten to my AP flour. Hubby wanted cinnamon raisin bagels, so I put 1/2 cup raisins in a sauce pan, covered it with water, brought to a boil, then drained when they swelled. Then I coated them well with cinnamon. I added them after the dough came out of the bread machine but next time I think I'll add them sooner because they were hard to incorporate. This recipe was so easy to do. The times stated were perfect. This recipe will be seen many times over in my kitchen. I am half tempted to go start another batch. Thank you Cristy Chu for sharing such an AMAZING recipe!

Root Beer Float Ice Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
EXACTLY like a root beer float! I made no changes to the recipe. While making it I wondered why vanilla extract was being used and not just root beer. Now I know. The vanilla extract gives it that vanilla ice cream in the root beer flavor. I will surely make this when the grandchildren are coming. Root beer has always been one of their favorite flavors. This recipe sure brings back memories of the soda fountain days. Thanks Grace Gutberlet for sharing!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
FANTASTIC recipe! I thought this would be as good as the sauteed apples you get at the Cracker Barrel restaurants, but it is BETTER! No changes were made or are necessary. I was looking for a side dish to go with pork chops and this was perfect. I will definitely be making it again. Thank you 356 for sharing!

Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
Winner winner chicken dinner! What a nice surprise! I was just looking for a way to use blsl chicken breasts and found a recipe that I will use over and over. I doubled the sauce as others suggested because I would rather have extra than not enough. I didn't plan on any changes but had the addition of celery seed due to grabbing the wrong jar. lol! It didn't hurt the flavor at all. Thank you Caroline Sperry for sharing such a great recipe!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
It doesn't get better than this. I replaced 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chips with mint chips but kept 1/4 cup chocolate for the deep chocolate flavor. It was outstanding. This is such a great cookie. I plan to try other chip flavors such as peanut butter or caramel. Thank you Berit Locatelli for such a great recipe, even the baking time is perfect!!

Chicken Potato Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
So EASY and YUMMY! I used 2 BLSL chicken breasts. I added carrots and a little water to the dish and placed the chicken on top so the juices would flow through. The only thing I would do different the next time is to cut my potatoes smaller. This recipe really sets you free to do other things. Thank you Debbi Mullins for such an EASY YUMMY recipe!

Old Fashioned Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
EXCELLENT! I followed the recipe exactly using 6 Granny Smith apples. I was looking for an apple pie that had a more cinnamon taste than caramel. This was perfect. Hubby declared it "EXCELLENT". It did take a little longer to bake as I turned the oven down to 275. I feel that 300 would have been better. Thank you Arletta for sharing this EXCELLENT recipe!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
FABULOUS! This is a FABULOUS recipe and so easy to make. I didn't have buttermilk so I used a common substitution of 1 Tablespoon lemon juice and enough milk to make 1 cup. (I used 2% milk). This couldn't have turned out better. Hubby loved it! I made it to go with Chili but if that is going to happen, I need to go hide it. lol! Thank you BETHANYWEATHERSBY for sharing such a FABULOUS recipe!

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
DELICIOUS soup! I left out the mushrooms, shrimp and snow peas as I didn't have any. This is the first time I made wontons so I had a little difficulty folding them. I'm still not sure if I did it right. I watched a video on "YouTube" for extra help. Because I had never cooked with bok choy, I wasn't even sure what it looked like. I asked the young man in the produce department and he helped me find it. I should have asked him, "What part do you cook?" LOL! The recipe says "torn into 2-inch pieces" so I used the leaves. I don't know if that was right either. I read some reviews for help and saw that some were cooking their wontons separate. I wasn't sure what to do. My thinking was that the sausage flavors would be lost in the water that you throw away. I stuck to the recipe and it turned out great. This soup was DELICIOUS! Thank you Starry Night for sharing!!

Buttermilk Mango-Berry Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
AWESOME! So moist and delicious. I love the fact that different fruits can be used. I used a fresh peach and a cup of frozen raspberries. I can't wait to try others. The topping was incredible! It made the whole cake just perfect. Thank you Naples for sharing such an AWESOME recipe! UPDATE: I just made this recipe again but this time as muffins. I divided the batter into four bowls. One bowl had the addition of blueberries, another had raspberries, another I added cranberries and apples were added to the last. I now have a variety of muffins not to mention that some muffins will be a surprise combination. The only problem I see is I want to try them all! They took a little less time to bake so just keep your eye on them until a toothpick comes out clean. Also, no need to double the topping. I did and it wasn't necessary. Thanks again Naples!!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
PERFECT! This recipe is PERFECT! It was my first attempt at making homemade baked beans and it was so easy. I followed the recipe to a "T" but did leave out the onions because I didn't want onions in my beans. The addition of bacon was my favorite part. It cooked nicely without precooking. This recipe has definitely found a home at our house. Thank you AJRHODES3 for sharing!!

VERY GOOD! Just like what they sell on the boardwalk. It has a smooth creamy rich dark chocolate taste. Very easy to make. I made it according to the recipe with no changes. Next time I think I'll add minature marshmallows. Thank you Dana for sharing!

Barbecued Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
VERY GOOD! I used boneless pork chops in place of the pork steaks. I liked the fact that they didn't need to be marinated before grilling. The honey made the barbecue sauce stickier and I liked that. These were very tasty.

BLT Bacon Bowls

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
AWESOME! This is a BLT without the bread. (You could add croutons). I made a 6 slice by 6 slice mat on a piece of parchment paper. Then cut through the paper and bacon with kitchen shears, making 4 bowls. I flopped the bacon mats on the backside of oven-safe "monkey dishes" (little ramekins) and peeled off the parchment paper. I baked it at 350 until it browned (350 so my dishes wouldn't break). Then I put the mat of bacon inside the dish and back in the oven to get the other side browned. Be careful, it's hot! I used "ove gloves". It took a while and I thought it was a pain, but first bite it was OMG! So crispy and delicious! This is 5 stars all the way!! I will be making these again. Thank you KoalaFace for sharing such an AWESOME recipe!

Venia's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
I cored a tomato and hollowed it out using a tomato shark; then I filled it with the tuna salad. I only used 1 Tablespoon mayo and a little onion as I wasn't mixing in a whole head of lettuce. This made for a very delicious dish. The recipe was lacking seasoning but it's very easy to just add what you like. Thank you Venia for sharing!
