It is hard for me to learn to cook. My husband would rather go out to eat than be a Guinea Pig to my attempts. Mainly because I forget to read the directions all the way to the end before starting, so something always happens... but I'm still trying :)
My favorite things to cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother would make mushroom chicken and rice each year for my birthday when I was growing up. It was my favorite thing in the world to eat until I was introduced to Saag Paneer.
My cooking triumphs
My bacon rum ice cream is unbelievable.
My cooking tragedies
Alton Brown's Chicken Kiev. I very stupidly guessed at the temperature of the oil, and promptly set the first piece of chicken on fire. The entire house filled with smoke so quickly that I kinda freaked out. My husband came in, grabbed the saute pan and took it outside to burn away on the driveway. It took over an hour for us to clear the air out in the house. He gave me a temperature gun from his garage with strict instructions not to try to burn the house down this time, and the next pieces of chicken cooked fine.
