I've been cooking since I was a toddler and my great grandma who have me in the kitchen. Tried out culinary school but realized it wasn't for me at that time in my life. Now I am a mom and a military wife who loves to put amazing meals on the table!
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill or in my slow cooker. It really depends on the season. Some of my go to's are home made pizza and shepherds pie stuffed potatoes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My son loves to be in the kitchen with me so pizza night and taco night are my favorite because he is right there cooking and "chopping" with me.
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting collard greens, my father-in-law is from the south so he knows what good greens are. To have the ability to put something on the table that impresses him is a pretty big triumph! Another big one was preparing Thanksgiving dinner by myself for a house full of sailors and marines, fighting off the flu and nursing a 10 week old.
My cooking tragedies
Oh the list is long. Probably the most memorable was when I attempted biscuits and sausage gravy for my husband when we were in high school. I put way too much salt in everything, it was pretty much inedible but he did eat his entire plate. Now that is love!
