Baked Ziti I

My family loves this recipe. I make it exactly as written before making any changes. The changes made were slight and to our family's taste only. This recipe is really, really delicious with or without any changes. I made this recipe several times before I adjusted it to my family's taste. I switched the noodles to Penne because the little kids in our family found the noodles too large and I cut down on the amount of sour cream to 1 cup. I also like to put additional mozzarella on the top layer because it looks and tastes better.

Rich and Creamy Beef Stroganoff

I read the reviews and used them to adjust the recipe to my family's taste. I prepped the food the night before as I babysit my young grandchildren the day of the meal. I did not marinate the beef in the wine but added the salt and pepper to the wine and refrigerated it over night in a container. I browned the beef, onions with garlic, and mushrooms the day before and put everything in the refrigerator, ready for the next day. I followed the recipe with two minor exceptions. After taste testing I decided to only use a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes and cut down the amount of cream cheese to approx. 2 and 1/4 oz. (3/4 of the 3 ounce block). My family LOVED this recipe and I will be making it again and again. Thank you for a true winner.

Classic Macaroni Salad

This is a real winner! Due to my family's tastes I only added the vegetables they liked but other than that I followed the recipe as written. This recipe can be adjusted so easily to adding or deleting any vegetable that suit your family's taste. I did not have enough time to make it the night before but even after four hours in the ref. it was still DELICIOUS!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

I made this recipe twice before doing this review. Both pies turned out good, but not good enough to get more stars. I followed the recipe to a "T" with the exception of adding some cinnamon and a small amount of allspice. I was really excited when I found this recipe but I am at a loss as to the many rave reviews. Don't get me wrong, the pies were good, just not as special as most reviewers wrote. Making a lattice top crust and pouring the sauce in and over is not necessary when it is much easy and quicker to toss the apples in the mixture and cover the pie with a well vented top crust. I have been baking apple pies for over 40 years and I can say with authority and experience the recipe is good, just not great.
