About this Cook
I am 50% Native American and 50% European American. My cooking is inspired by the indigenous and aboriginal of North America specifically southwestern regions and the Pueblo tribes. Our meals included many corn, squash and bean dishes. Our "tortillas" were more of a flat bread baked in adobe clay ovens. My grandmother had a modern stove and used cast iron skillets. I will try my best to keep my submitted recipes as authentic as possible.
My favorite things to cook
Simple Authentic food that is easy and inexpensive. Real home cooking comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
cooking together is the best... preparing a meal can be a great way to bring the family together.
My cooking triumphs
What can be better than your family eating every morsel and wanting seconds. I love knowing my family is eating healthy and meals that were thought out and prepared with love.
My cooking tragedies
never forget the eggs... ;)

Mom's Zucchini Bread
I replace the oil with Best Foods Mayonnaise. A trick I learned from my grandmother to make bread/cake moist. This bread is a hit and a favorite amongst my family and friends.

Guacamole
Awesome recipe! I made it without cilantro as I am not a big fan of it. I used a small yellow onion instead of measuring a 1/2 cup. I also used two vine tomatoes in place of the Roma... Turned out delicious! I had handmade corn tortillas that i sliced into 4 and fried them for homemade corn chips. DELICIOUS!
