My favorite things to cook
My favorite time to cook is fall- when the air is suddenly crisp and the kitchen is cool again. Then I love to cook with apples- applesauce, apple butter (great slow cooker recipes on this site) and bake muffins and squash. Fall and winter I like to experiment with stews and soups and make baked beans. I like to cook things which warm the kitchen and smell good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
August will always remind me of my mother in the kitchen making Peach Chutney for the neighborhood Park fundraiser. It featured an English "Pub Lunch" complete with cheddar cheese, with peach chutney in place of Branston pickle.
My cooking triumphs
Getting my husband to eat vegetables at a stage less cooked than "mushy" and without butter or white sauce.
My cooking tragedies
Trying to create sweet and sour canned tuna for my brothers when I was in high school. It was my job to make us dinner one night a week- this time they scraped together their pocket money and went out for pizza slices.
