Best London Broil Ever!

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
This is a fantastic base recipe. My family loves this one even though I add more to it (spices, onions, carrots, etc). A fine way to use the London Broil. Thanks!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2003
I must admit that right out of the oven this pie made me a little nervous as it was puffed up so high compared to a standard pumpkin pie. But it settled as it cooled and looked quite appealing. The streusel topping was a wonderful touch! My family enjoyed it on Thanksgiving. A good holiday pie.

Old-Fashioned Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
When I was a kid my Mom made wonderful sour cream cookies (as we called them) by rolling them and cutting them out (and the dough was so good to steal and eat when her back was turned). So I had a hard time believing you could make these as a drop cookie! I did and they were wonderful! They were fluffy, delicious and looked like Mom's and the dough was even good to eat (Disclaimer: It has raw eggs so don't try this at home kids). They did get a little clammy when stored but I think I might have used too much sour cream. Thanks for sharing this great recipe! It will surely be used during the holidays & when I have a hankering fr it (did I say hankering?)

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
These were some of the best pumpkin cookies I have EVER had (except for my Mom's of course). Let's just say that everyone that tried them had more than one. The only thing I changed is that I added 1/2 c. chopped nuts and not having any cloves I used 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (next time I think I will decrease the nutmeg to 1/4 tsp). These were great though. I love you Gina!!!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
What a fine recipe! I did take the advice from other reviewers by cutting up the sweet potato (boiled for only 20 minutes & removed skin under cold water) and I decreased sugar to 1 1/2 cups (1/2 cup being brown sugar). I thought it was too much nutmeg so I decreased it to 1/2 tsp and added 1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice (I think allspice would have been a nice choice as well). To top it off I added 1/4 tsp. orange extract. The original recipe is wonderful, these are just things that I like. Joyce Waits is going to be a name known in our home around the holidays!
