About this Cook
I am a single mom of 2 girls. Recently moved back in with my mother to help her out with changes in her life, like dialysis and being on oxygen 24/7.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE TO BAKE! I will try anything that is a dessert, and my entire family is the guinea pig!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I wish I had paid more attention when I was younger and watching my grandma make holiday dinners. She made it look effortless. Now I know better. I am currently attempting to teach my 10 yr old daughter to cook and bake. Interesting challenge.
My cooking triumphs
I made an Upside Down German Chocolate cake for my mom's birthday one year and it was the first time that I made it. I thought I did it wrong because the bottom where the coconut and pecans were got hard and crunchy. Heck! That turned out to be everyone's favorite part!
My cooking tragedies
Making a cake in the microwave back in the 80's. Enough said.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake I
I made this with my 9yr old daughter for my mother's birthday cake! It came out AWESOME! I was concerned about the soupy consistancy, but was totally surprised by the end result! Everyone loved it! Will be making this again in the future! Thank you for sharing this!

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie
This came out AWESOME!!! Used a 12" pizza pan and still had dough leftover for about 7 or 8 large cookies on a cookie sheet! Kids flipped over them! Thanks for sharing this! This is my new "from scratch" giant cookie!

Pumpkin Pie Bread
My 8 yr old and I made this one weekend and it turned out fabulous! It was so good that I decided to make it again for Christmas gifts to family friends! The loaves came out perfect, but while I was cooling them, the dog got on the kitchen table and helped himself! I had to bake a new batch at 10 p.m. Christmas Eve. The second batch was not as pretty as the first. I also added walnuts to the recipe and it still came out fantastic!
