Lemon Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2004
This recipe takes longer than others only because you will have to write the recipe out over and over for guests who try it!!

Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
Not bad for an eggless, butterless, milkless cake!! This recipe saved me after my daughter volunteered to bring cupcakes for a school birthday party. I had everything on hand and ended up glazing them with a mixture of icing sugar, cocoa powder and water.

Garlic Feta Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
Had to bring a last minute appie to friends, but because of snow, didn't want to venture to the grocier. All ingredients for this dip are staples in my house, so whipped it up, adding a touch of minced basil. Fabulous! Gobbled up at party, and three people asked for recipe.

Sticky Buns II

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
Fantabulous!! Now making cinnamon buns isn't a huge issue. Tried this recipe last minute for breakfast breakfast for my daughter's sleepover --all four eight-year-old girls loved them!! ...and the 5 year old brother, not to mention my husband and myself!! This will also be our new Christmas and Easter morning treats!

Chutney Baked Brie

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2002
This appie was an absolute hit last night. In fact, the platter was eaten clean within the first 15 minutes of putting it out!! The recipe was so easy that I was actually a little embarassed telling people how few ingredients are in it!! It's a keeper!

Passover Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: May 31, 2002
What an awesome dessert! I made it in an 11" torte pan and glazed it with a chocolate glaze that I found on this site ("Satiny Chocolate Glaze"). After glazing, I cut the torte into 12 slices (next time I will make 16 slices) and put half a large strawberry, cut side down, on each slice by the outer edge. My book club gals loved it and everyone wanted the recipe!!! This is an easy winner!

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: May 15, 2002
What an easy and fast, not to mention yummy, coffee cake! I took the earlier suggestion and put 1/3 of the topping in the berry layer (I used fresh strawberries rather than blueberries) and then sprinkled 1/3 on top of the batter and sprinkled the remaining 1/3 in my garbage. I will definitely make this recipe again!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2002
Excellent, easy recipe. Rather than wedge cut the dough, I rolled it out and used a 3" diameter cookie cutter to make circular scones -- found I had to bake them a bit longer than the recipe called for. Very tasty. I served it for Friday afternoon unch with the gals, with a chilled white wine, strawberry/feta salad and the awesome Asparagus Quiche found on this site. Excellent reviews!

No Crust Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2002
This recipe was quick and easy but only one out of two of my kids liked it, and it didn't do a thing for my hubby and me. In fact, coming from someone who VERY rarely leaves a dessert on her plate, this one did get left. I wouldn't make it again.

Lobster Bisque

What an easy and delicious bisque! I thickened it up a little at the end by taking 3/4 cup of the soup and mixing it with a little flour then adding it back. An excellent recipe.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Wow! Five thumbs up, if that's possible!! Only thing I did differently is omitted the nuts and had to bake just about an hour. I will definitely make this again (and again!)

Ice Cream Cone Treats

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2001
What a great idea -- much more fun for the kids to bring these ice cream cone treats to school for their birthday rather than plain ol' everyday cupcakes! It impresses the heck out of the moms who see them too!! 8) Do not fill cones any further than two-thirds full because they will overflow. Also, I melted about a 1/2 cup of chippits with 1 tbl vegetable oil and drizzled a tsp or so on top of the iced cones before shaking the sprinkles on -- you get a nice sundae effect this way.

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2001
What an easy and impressive appetizer -- I always get compliments whenever I make this recipe and ususally end up having to copy the recipe out for someone. I substitute jam (whatever kind is open in the fridge) for the almonds. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2001
WOW!! This cake is superb!! I have made this recipe a few times and have left it plain, topped it with a combination of sifted icing sugar and cocoa powder and have also topped it with a chocolate glaze. All are excellent. Thanks, Caitlin, for sharing a great recipe.
