Single, soon to be 50, mother to one daughter, grandmother of 3 precious grandsons. personal chef, registered associate in the securites industry. Cooking has always been a passion of mine. I love reading a good cookbook....not only for the recipes but the incredible insight of other chefs perspectives on cooking and what inspires them. I also love gardening and grow a variety of herbs, flowers and vegetables.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy all aspects of cooking.....soups, sauces, dressings, marinades, baked goods. I love experimenting with new and old recipes.....My motto is "dont be afraid to be creative.....if it doesnt turn out the way you want.... try something different" l think a lot of people feel you have to stick exactly to a recipe...by having a sense of adventure and being creative you can creat your own recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday cooking. Traditional Thanksgiving dinner and desserts. But using different brining solutions each year for the turkey and putting a new twist on traditional side dishes and desserts....ie, instead of sweet potato casserole with toasted marshmellows on top or a streusel topping.....try baked bananas with a drizzle of rum sauce :-)
My cooking triumphs
Would have to be my Chicken, Beef and Turkey Pot Pies......I made over 300 this past year.
My cooking tragedies
catering for a party of 150 people and almost twice that many people showed up......Not having enough food is any chefs worst nightmare.....its not our fault but it totally reflects on us.
