About this Cook
I am the mother of two, one with allergies to dairy, eggs, and several nuts. Baking has always been my favorite thing to do in the kitchen, but now I'm starting to experiment with preparing allergy-free foods.
My cooking tragedies
I was working as a temp cook at Iowa State University Dining Service when I was assigned a new recipe for Portabello mushrooms. The recipe called to heat a pan of oil under the broiler. So I started that while prepping the mushrooms. Set the whole thing on fire. The automatic fire suppression was activated and the whole bank of broilers was shut down until it could be reset.

Sweet and Silky Strawberry Sorbet
Love, Love, LOVE it! My son is allergic to dairy and so we make this as a special treat instead of ice cream, and everyone loves it. It freezes up light and fluffy in the ice cream freezer. I'm also looking forward to freezing the mixture into popsicles.

Rasta Pasta
This is a family favorite in our house! I use rotini instead of penne pasta because hubs prefers it and add some extra Ragu because he likes his pasta saucy. When I want a less spicy meal, I omit the cajun seasoning and it still has plenty of flavor.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
Like many other reviewers said, this is the best chicken I've ever made. I followed the recipe exactly and baked it for a little over 4 hours until a meat thermometer read 170 degrees. The meat was tender, juicy, flavorful, and really easy to carve. My 2-year old kept asking for more and more and more. I roasted one chicken and wrapped the second in aluminum foil and stuck it in the freezer for a later date.
