About this Cook
Wife to an amazing man who loves my cooking and four wonderful children....two humans and two furbabies, all of which I cook for.
My favorite things to cook
ANYTHING....I love new things. But, my old favorites and go to's are always great too. I will try a recipe even if it has bad reviews..and yes, I occasionally will tweak depending on my tastes, if I do tweak too much, I will not review. I love foreign foods, southern classics, and crazy out of the box ideas.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love to fry a turkey on thanksgiving. I also do homemade almost everything, we don't eat out much due to preference. Corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty's day is a must!!
My cooking triumphs
I have perfected Pao de Quejo (Brazilian cheese bread) My husband lived in brazil for two years and loves the stuff. Took a few tries but I have figured out what works for us. I always hate when people get on and review things as "not traditional". Perhaps it was traditional to that particular person's family. We all change things to the way WE like them and it becomes our personal tradition.
My cooking tragedies
I once attempted to bake my husbands favorite cake for his birthday (back in the early days of cooking). Unfortunately, wax paper, even though a great idea to cook the cake layers on (parchment paper is different and is much better to use for oven use, FYI), should have been removed before icing the cake. OOps!!! Epic Fail.

Very Fruity Rum Punch
I use club soda instead of water, no banana, coconut rum and a splash of pineapple vodka if you are really feeling frisky ;) You can't go wrong with these flavors, even adding more or less of any of the ingredients to taste. but be careful, it doesn't taste as dangerous as it is!! Great recipe, it's my go to for pool side parties!

Mexican Rice I
Really good! I followed all of the directions as written except I used a little salsa instead of diced tomatoes (because it was already open) and after sauteing, before adding the broth (instead of water), I threw everything into my rice cooker and let it go. :) great recipe, easy to make.

Beer Sausage
I thought this was really good. I threw in a little celery to make up for the carrots I was lacking. Also, I sauteed the kielbasa chunks until slightly charred and threw in a splash of chardonnay just for the hell of it. I layered as described in the recipe and did not stir. Also, I do not like the after taste of Italian seasoning so I threw in seasoned salt rather than regular, some parsley and some basil. Yes, I know I changed it....All recipes are a great place to start and make it your own.
