Slow Cooker White Chili with Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2014
I haven't tried this yet but for those who think there is too much liquid - you did NOT follow the recipe - it calls for DRIED beans not canned ones. If you use canned beans they are already cooked and you need to reduce the cooking liquid - in this case the chicken broth

Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: May 20, 2014
Found this in the AR Magazine - since I had ground beef and blue cheese on hand decided to try it - delicious. Was pleasantly surprised that the cheese didn't leak out. Not a big burger fan usually but have already made this twice.

Escargots Vol-au-Vent

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2014
What I was looking for - I used shallots rather than green onions and brandy rather than white wine also added a pinch of allspice. We both enjoy escargot and this was the perfect starter for a Valentine dinner. Thank You Sally

Quinoa Biryani

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
Haven't tried this but suspect that the recipe should specify using a black cardamom pod. The green ones don't have the same flavour. This recipe seems to be for use as a side dish rather than as a complete meal

Whitechapel Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2012
Curious - why do so many people substitute beef for lamb? It is called shepherd's pie for a reason. Look for Cottage pie recipes if you want to use beef. I like the modern method of using fresh ground lamb as most of us don't cook a roast so don't have the leftovers to grind for making this later in the week.

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Have been microwaving corn for years rather than boiling - never take all the husk off just tidy it up a little. (Taking the husk off before cooking 'ages' the kernels really fast and makes them dry ....)

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Delicious! Made this in a hurry so par-cooked the squash in the microwave before roasting. Didn't have curry powder so used a mild curry paste. Forgot to add the 1/2 n 1/2 but it was so creamy and good it didn't matter. Thank you we will definitely have this again soon and yes I will try and remember the cream :)

Garlic Sauteed Artichokes

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
I tried this last night because I had bought some baby artichokes. My husband wanted to know when we could have it again! Soon since I only used half of what I bought :) - It was really good and much easier than I had expected - Thank you JJDON.

Chicken Tagine

This went down well with both my husband and grand daughter and I will use it again. I followed the recipe except I used fresh ginger and garlic (don't keep those on hand).

Orange Mango Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
This was really good. It looks nice on the plate and was easy and quick. The first time I stuck to the recipe. Tried it again with allspice instead of the cinnamon and used 'peameal' (Canadian) bacon because that was what I had on hand. This is a keeper - thank you Michael

Mini Meat Loaves

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
Loved the addition of horseradish! I Have made mini loaves before but not in the same pan. To reduce fat and clean up - used parchment to separate them and a non stick silicone pan so no need to grease that. Will make this again :)
