Hahaha..... I finally got one of my recipes accepted. It took sending them an email asking why it was just sitting there. They said they would look into in. About a week later they published it for me........ hahahaha. I am so happy now. If anyone is interested in a really good chili, take a… MORE

Just me
About this Cook
I am a general Contractor that works in the Calgary area. I love to plan and cook complicated meals. It keeps my mind off the stresses of my trade. I will BBQ almost anything any time of the year. I will even BBQ in some winter storms. My mother taught me to start cooking when I was very young. She told me; "you may die lonely, but you will not die hungry".
My favorite things to cook
I tend to be more of a "meat and tateres" kind of guy. I do, however, cook or smoke other meals as well. Shrimp, Halibut, Crab legs, Turkeys, lamb, pork and chicken are all on my list too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably has to be my Turkey and homemade gravy. (I improved on preparation of the family gravy though).
My cooking triumphs
Complete Thanks giving dinners with all the homemade trimmings. I am very particular as to who gets to help me prepare it too.
My cooking tragedies
I still cannot get my Yorkshire Pudding to rise properly. I even bought a cast iron muffin tray hoping that would help, but it didn't.

Simple Beef Short Ribs
This turned out great. Instead of simmering on the stove, I put ribs in a covered pot with potatoes in the oven at 325deg for a couple hours

Aussie Barbequed Boneless Leg of Lamb
The lamb tasted great. The BBQ sauce recipe was about twice as much as was needed for the roast. I also found the BBQ sauce was too tart, so I added about 1/2 cup of brown sugar. I cooked it med. rare (145deg) and it was perfect. I will make this again with the marinade, but probably make a different BBQ sauce as it is not really appropriate to for the lamb.
