About this Cook
Mom of three and grandma of one. Hubby calls me the "quantum measurer" because I rarely measure anything.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking comfort foods. They remind me of the dinners my mom used to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in a family where everything was centered around food. All the women in the family would laugh and talk about the men while they worked on dinner. I don't think the men ever caught on that it was 20% cooking and 80% gabbing. I cherish the times I spent cooking with my mother growing up and I think it's the reason why I love to cook for my family now.

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties
My family loved this recipe and my husband couldn't believe it was turkey. Because of the package size of ground turkey at our grocery, I had to make slightly more than the basic recipe. I made the whole batch into patties, sprayed a light coating of cooking spray onto a cookie sheet, and put the patties on the sheet in my freezer until they were frozen solid. They came off quite easily and I packaged them in freezer bags for quick breakfasts for several days. I will definitely be doing this again.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
This is the best stew recipe I've tried (and there were many tries)! My husband raved about it, all the kids gobbled it up in record time. I do want to say that there is no need to brown the beef before putting it in the slow cooker. In fact, it adds nothing at all to the taste or the tenderness. What it does add is more fat and calories. I wouldn't have thought that the best stew recipe on this site would have been the easiest, but the fact that you don't have to brown anything before putting it in the slow cooker is the beauty of this easy to make dish.
