I'm an on again, off again type of cook. I do the cooking in the house usually but don't think it should take a long time. I wasn't really allowed to cook growing up so it was not until I was married that I realized it was my "new" hobby.
I still have lots to learn, but I am much more comfortable in the kitchen than I used to be and I love teaching others what I know. I esp love seeing the little ones in the kitchen cooking what they pick at the store and markets.
My favorite things to cook
Quick and easy! Although I'm wanting to cook with more fresh items. I love mexican style, but enjoy making fresh veggies and pasta dishes. Half my family is grew up southern, so fixing those with less cals is becoming a new thing. As is cooking my fav foods with more natural and less processed foods. And I love just throwing things together and seeing what happens.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, my mom typically will deligate out one item to those in the state to make and then she makes the rest of them. I'm the only one who brings variations and test things on my family. No, they don't always turn out great, but I always enjoy their reactions either way. :)
My cooking triumphs
Can't say I should be bragging, but my family says I make the best grilled cheese and green bean casserole. My husband loves my stuffed green pepper casserole and pesto pasta toss.
At this point I think if it doesn't go in the trash, I'm good! :)
My cooking tragedies
I've actually only thrown away 5 meals that were so bad they went in the trash. Of course, they were experiments.
