Baked Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Thank you for the base of the soup. Made this gluten free by using GF flour and a tablespoon of arrow root. Made the rough, added a diced yellow onion, sauteed for a few minutes and added some minced garlic. Baked the potatoes in the over for an hour prior to beginning. Lastly subbed out a cup of milk (1%) with a cup of homemade vegetable stock. I cook a lot and normally need to tweak recipes. This was a really good one and only required a few changes for me.

Strawberry Jam

Made the recipe exactly as instructed. PERFECT! Tastes a bit sweet testing with a spoon. But it is AWESOME on toast and I love not adding extra pectin!

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
I just made this...2 batches actually. Having read the reviews after I made and tasted the first batch (followed exactly as written), it was a tad too sweet for me. The second batch, I made, I only decreased the sugar to 3/4 cup, some might want to go to 1/2 cup of sugar. The second batch was perfect for my tastes. I did cook the second batch for 13 minutes. All in all...EXCELLENT recipe. Simple, flavorful and many thanks for sharing!!!

Sara's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
I have yet to taste the finished product, however, I did taste the batter prior to adding it to the pie shell. If using homemade puree, make sure you are draining it through cheese cloth or a coffee filter for at least 2 hours prior to using. I am delivering this to a friend. It turned out perfectly. I used the exact recipe and actually cooked it 10 minutes less than was called for. Remember altitude and ovens vary the cooking times. Gas ovens cooks quicker than electric ones, as a rule. Thanks for the recipe!

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
I just finished making this. I used my own homemade pumpkin puree and added some extra cinnamon, pumpkin spice and nutmeg and an 1/8 cup of brown sugar. I'm not sure of the quantities as I "eyeball" spices. I added a dollop of sour cream too. I did taste it before I added anything extra. It was good but changed it to suit my tastes.

Taco Seasoning II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I just made this based on the ingredient list. I made it exactly as the recipe indicated. The seasonings work well together. The reason I gave it 3-stars is it is BLAND!!! I am still going to use this as my new taco seasoning recipe, however, I will either pre-season the meat with a little salt as I cook it. I typically season by site and rarely use mixes. I also added 2 tsp of salt to the remaining mixture. I may have to adjust it down the road when I use it again as I haven't tested it yet with the salt addition. It really is a good recipe, but it does need salt! Adding some will still be substantially less than what would be in a store-bought packet.

Amish Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
This bread is AWESOME! I don't have a bread machine - I made it the old fashioned way. I did take the tip to use 3 cups bread flour and 1 1/4 tsp of yeast. Kneed for 10 minutes, let rise for 1.5 hours. Punch down and roll out to 8" x 7". Roll bread, tucking seam underneath, let rise for another 30 minutes and bake for 30 minutes. Absolutely wonderful. I have completely stopped buying bread now. I just make a loaf a week.

Preacher Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
These are WONDERFUL cookies and super simple to make. My only change was using creamy peanut butter (all I had). Not to mention, perfect to make when you can't think about turning on the oven just to make cookies! UPDATE: I have made this recipe several times now and taken them to parties as dessert..a hit EVERY time!!
