Mashed Potato, Rutabaga, and Parsnip Casserole with Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
This is one of my favorite vegetable dishes. It's absolutely delicious. I often make this with only rutabaga or turnip, instead of the combination.

Poblano Chile Enchiladas a la Gringa

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
This was delicious! I couldn't find poblano chilis, so I used jalapenos -- gave the dish quite a kick! I also popped this in the oven for about 5 minutes after they were rolled to let the cheese melt.

Warm Greek Pita Sandwiches With Turkey and Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Made a cold version of this. Very good. I used deli turkey instead of roasted turkey because that's what I had on hand -- next time I'll use the roasted turkey for better flavor.

Didn't cook it long enough

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was very tasty and so simple to make! It took longer than the recipe called for -- about an hour to get to 160 degrees. I would definitely make again. The wine gravy is wonderful.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
These were tasty, but a little dry. I think next time I will serve with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Maybe even some salsa.

Grilled Yams

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
It's pretty hard to mess up yams. Serve with some butter - delish!

Grilled Chicken and Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
This was pretty good. It was a nice, light dinner. I added a bunch of things (eggs, olive, etc.) and there were a lot of flavors competing with each other, so maybe next time I won't use so many different ingredients. I used a vinaigrette dressing.

Awesome Baked Sea Scallops

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
I thought this was really bland - not necessarily the fault of the recipe. I may just not be a scallop person.

This was awesome! I followed the instructions exactly and it turned out great. I will definitely make this again.

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This was delicious and the perfect topping to the German Chocolate Cake III recipe. I had the same problem as some of the others where the frosting wasn't thickening -- it was because of the low heat. Turn the heat up to high in the second half of the cook time and stir quickly to thicken the frosting.

Cucumber Slices With Dill

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
I don't like food to be sweet (unless it's dessert) so I halved the sugar. This was a great side dish.

Lit'l Smokies® With Bacon

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
You can't go wrong with bacon! I omitted the brown sugar entirely (I don't care for sweet foods). If I were to make again, I think I would rotate the pan halfway through to ensure even cooking - some of the bacon ended up super crispy and some of it need to cook longer.

Slow Cooker Kielbasa and Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Not bad, although it made the kielbasa a little mushy.

I used all of the suggestions provided by readers -- it came out delicious and moist! This is the only way to cook decent chicken in my opinion.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was good -- but it didn't feel like a traditional alfredo.

Fried Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This was pretty good, but either the corn flakes soak up the oil too much or I left them in too long because it tasted a little too "oily". I would definitely make again, but maybe try a different coating (another person used crushed up vanilla wafers - I might give that a try).

Topless Blueberry Pie

Not bad. Definitely a healthier version of blueberry pie (simply by omitting the second crust). Serve with Ice cream!
