About this Cook
Married 33 years, We have six adopted children 5 still at home. We live simply and value our time spent with our children most of all. Cooking is a passion of mine and My girls ( Twin 11 yr olds a 9 yr old and 3 yr old ) are developing a passion for it as well. we five spend alot of time in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
traditional italian dishes, Love shrimp cooked every way. comfort foods, made the way my malteze mama taught me. Daddy was southern irish and I learned from his mama the southern way.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Food is a passion for both sides of my family. I have many traditions I love. Afew of my favorites are getting together and making Pasties, ( a traditional michigan meat turnover) we would laugh, chase children and the house smelled heavenly. Canning our gardens is another tradition and excuse to have harvest B.B.Q's. Ladies, keep your traditions include your children so they can carry them on. Also handwrite your recipes down and put them in a book, one for all your kids. I cherish mine! And feel blessed to have those recipes from Family members that have passed, handwritten in their own hand.
My cooking triumphs
Everytime I get a big smile from my table is a triumph for me.
My cooking tragedies
Oh that has to be the time when I first was married in 76 and made my first Pot Roast and took some other young married ladies advice and hung tea bags in the pot with the meat and veggies. Was suppose to tenderize it. Well the bags broke open and tea was all over everything. Hubs ate it, even smiled at me. I think he really liked it because anything was better then his mama's cooking. Bless her heart, she really tried.

Best Peanut Butter Cookies Ever
So easy and melt in your mouth. Followed recipe exactly and they were a great hit with the family as well. My sil stopped in and had to jot down the recipe, her hubby is gluten free and she said this was perfect!

Roasted Creole Potatoes
Just had this for dinner tonight and the whole family excluding my two youngest 4and 6, they don't Do spicy yet! Loved loved this one. It was delicious. I added just a tad more of Cajun Seasoning because my older 4 kids and Hubby loves it spicy. They all said make it again! SOON! Thank you Carina, super easy and fuss free for a busy night. I think that maybe this Sunday I will try the breakfast version before church.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
I have made these several times and am just now rating it. Wonderfully light and reminds me of the ones my grandma use to whip up without measuring out of her twin pines tin. She would make a well in the flour and cut in the lard with her fingers and add the other ingredients then break them off and roll and put in the pan, just before baking she smeared bacon grease on top of them....Oh sorry kinda lost myself for a moment.:-)
