About this Cook
I'm afraid there isn't anything "little" about me.
My favorite things to cook
Food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Eating.
My cooking triumphs
Doughnuts that were as close to Krispy Kremes as I believe one can get without having the Krispy secret recipe.
My cooking tragedies
Burning grilled cheese sandwiches -- for the past fifteen years, I have made at least one grilled cheese sandwich per batch for the trash can. Popcorn -- did you know that when microwaved too long popcorn can be reduced to a blackened mass the size of a golf ball and can create a stench that covers a city block and lasts for months?

African Peanut Soup
I've made this a few times now. If I don't add chicken, I like to double the rice. I also like a dash of cayenne in addition to the chili powder. I only use one red pepper to appease my veggie-phobic children. (I chopped the one up so fine that they didn't know it was there--bwa ha ha!) Great low-cost, high-taste recipe!

Frijoles de Olla
Brown beans are a inexpensive, simple meal topped with chopped onion and paired with cornbread. You can speed up the process by using a pressure cooker at 15lbs for about 30 to 45 minutes. Also, be sure to follow the recipe and add the salt later; the beans will not become as tender if you add the salt before cooking.

Peanut Butter Cake II
My family loved this cake. The icing was incredible. I followed the recipe except that I whipped up an extra half cup of the heavy cream and then folded it into the icing before putting it on the cake. It wasn't necessary, but I don't like my icings too sweet and the extra whipped heavy cream brought the sweetness down to a level I like.
