Gyros Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2014
I could not find any savory at the store, but otherwise made this per the recipe. It tasted okay, but very bland. I would have expected much more flavor, definitely more garlic to be like a gyro.

BBQ Chuck Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
Followed this recipe exactly, except that I don't have a rotisserie for my grill. There are no directions for temperature, but I prepared the grill for indirect heat and turned the roast every 15 minutes. Temperature ended up between 300 & 350F, varying because of me opening and closing the grill to turn it. The meat was fairly tough, definitely not tender or falling apart. The flavor of the marinade was fair to good. Wish I got the great outcome so many have reported, but not sure what to do differently.

Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Shoulder

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
Delicious and so easy! Followed other reviewers' advice and drained off half the brine before cooking and replaced it with beer. 8-10 hours on high seemed long, so I checked after 6 hours and it was perfect. Definitely a keeper!

Fried Pork Chop

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
I thought it was okay. The Hubs really liked it though. Said to give it four or five stars. Our chops were a bit thicker, maybe an inch or a little thicker than an inch and took a lot longer to cook through.

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
My husband said it was just like his mom used to make. I followed the reviews that said to rinse the beef, saute with the butter and then add flour. I think this helps the flour mix better with the half & half when it's added. Also only used 4.5 oz of meat for a full recipe since that's how big the jar was that I bought. That was plenty of meat. I'll probably double the recipe next time, but just use the 8 oz of meat.

Curried Egg-white Salad Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
Very good. Giving it four stars because it just seemed a little bland to me when I made it as written. Once I added more curry powder (maybe enough to double what was written) and added grapes, it was delicious!!! Also made it with egg yolks to not miss the great nutrition in the pastured yolks. Just needed to add a little more mayo with the extra volume of egg. Great quick lunch. Will definitely make this one again!

Roast Beef Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
Excellent! Had to make a few substitutions for what I had on hand. Used leftover pork tenderloin for the meat and a can of Rotel (undrained) in place of the tomatoes and chili's. Will definitely make this again!

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Delicious! Made it exactly as written. Update: For what it's worth, I made it again today, with a few substitutions since I'm trying to clean out the freezer and pantry. Used homemade pumpkin puree in the place of the squash and used 3/4 cup applesauce in place of the pears. It was good, but not the amazing, delicious soup it was when I followed the recipe exactly.

Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
Love, Love, Love this! I've made it several times and use this exact recipe, mixed up in the food processor or blender. I prefer my croutons in butter, but otherwise don't make any modifications. So easy and delicious! I usually make a double batch and we enjoy it all week. (Once I taste it, I want it again and again!)

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
Delicious! Based on reading reviews, I used one egg yolk instead of a whole egg and I used a piece of bread (wheat) instead of the bread crumbs. Rave reviews from my husband and inlaws. The 2 yr old and 10 month old ate theirs very well too. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Colette's Smoked Sausage Fritatta

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Delicious! I used this basic recipe, but put in onion powder instead of onions, omitted the smoked sausage, put in leftover spaghetti noodles. Got great reviews & requests for the recipe. Would be a great way to use up almost any kind of leftovers.

Roasted Beets with Feta

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Delicious! Overpowered the taste of the beets a bit, but maybe I had too much of the dressing for the few beets I had. I'll try with less dressing next time for more of the beet flavor.

Buttery Lemon Spinach

Delicious! I didn't measure ingredients exactly and I microwaved for three minutes on high. My husband said he'd prefer plain cooked spinach, but I loved this!
