About this Cook
Grew up in the country, moved to the city. Widowed, one adult daughter.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food, roasts, slow-cooker creations. Baking is fun! I love to share the food that I cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's banana cookies and homemade vegetable beef soup, and her beef stew.
My cooking triumphs
Spicy crockpot chicken with red peppers. See A Taste of Home's web page.
My cooking tragedies
Can't think of anything in particular, but I HATE it when I ruin a recipe by forgetting an ingredient or trying a shortcut that doesn't work. Wasting my time and money is SO annoying!

Banana Cookies
This is very similar to my mom's recipe, which I have been searching for unsuccessfully. She used a combination of baking soda and baking powder, and did not use lemon extract or nuts. It was very simple, and that is part of the joy of this cookie. I am going to try this version soon.

Tempting Tuna Salad
I dice up the apple and egg really small, I guess you'd call it "minced." Because adding the egg might be a little drying, I think the apple moistens it up. Great way to stretch expensive canned tuna.

Ghirardelli(R) Magic Cookie Bars
I would decrease slightly the chocolate chips and add about 3/4 cup of butterscotch chips. This is a wonderful bar cookie, very sweet.
