French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
Made this for my chocolate pie loving dad on Father's Day ~ it was inhaled with paroxysms of joy. I'm now making it for Thanksgiving with a few alterations: I used eggbeaters for safety's sake, so I beat for 5 minutes after each 1/4 of a cup of the eggbeaters, until I reached 3/4 cup (equivalent 3 eggs). No need to double the recipe if you do this! I used a pre-made graham cracker crust for a time-saver, and it was delicious. Finally, I put in 3/4 tsp of vanilla and 1/4 tsp of almond extract. Thanks for this fantastic recipe!

Whipped Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
WARNING - this will ruin you on any other hot chocolate ever...death by chocolate, but what a way to go. As my hubby says, "that's bloomin amazin -- that's downright incredible that is!" And he's American. Not sure what secret power this creamy hot chocolate has to bring forth a British accent, but bring it forth it did. THIS IS THE FINAL WORD on hot chocolate. I whipped the heavy cream while the milk was heating (with and occasional stir) to save time. Used Ghiradelli's sweet ground chocolate for the cocoa and regular Baker's semisweet as directed. I also used whole milk. To die for, I tell you.

Broccoli Beef II

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
Exactly like the take out I used to get. I'm not sure why everyone is switching to rice...we had pasta with it when I got take out, and the pasta with this is amazing. Even my 5 year old ate the broccoli.

Garlic Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
A huge hit with my fam. Even my 5 year old raved about this (she's practically a vegetarian and IMPOSSIBLE to cook for.) My husband ate and ate and ate it...almost no leftovers! Did make a few changes - took others' advice and doubled the sauce, added minced garlic to the boiling water for the linguine too. Used Riesling for the white wine, a TON of garlic (7 cloves - no lie), a handful of fresh parsley and about a half cup of freshly grated parm. Added 1/2 the parm to the linguine and tossed, the other half sprinkled on top after it was all together. It was perfect.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
Oh. My. Goodness. Deserves a solid 5 star rating! I added additional vanilla as suggested, but I disagree with all the comments to add pineapple. The flavor was perfect without that additional tang, which would change it to a whole different cake in my opinion. For those who don't like the pecans, try omitting them from the frosting. The pecans add a depth to the cake and then NOT having them in the frosting makes a delightful contrast in texture. Wonderful recipe -- thanks!!

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Quite possibly the best Alfredo we've ever had. I also added some pepper and a couple of cloves of fresh garlic, as FUNDER recommended. Also, since we didn't have romano cheese lying around the house, I used some Sargento brand "Classic 6 Cheese Italian" shredded mix instead.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Just finished making this right now. Delicious. Tastes just as good as anything I've made in the past with NO STRESS. I did add about 1 tsp of garlic, and a few shakes of garlic salt. Kept the fat too. Absolutely divine and a huge relief for the big day. Try this -- you'll be glad you did!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Easy and delish - the meal to make when you're not in the mood to cook. :) Like several others suggested, I used chicken broth in place of water, plopped frozen chicken breasts in to save time and even used a bag of tortilla chips -- mega time saver and just as scrumptious. I also serve with a spoonful of sour cream in each bowl and sprinkle with taco cheddar cheese. I've made this several times now for various people and always get rave reviews. A sure thing!

Passover Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
My family loved this. It was yummy, but the almond disturbed the texture more than I would have liked. I'll try again using my coffee grinder instead of my food processor, and see if I can make the almond more powdery.
