Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2014
Christmas cookie worthy. These are soft and delightful. Ignore the ratings that thought it was cakey or rocklike. I would never use another chocolate chip cookie recipe other than this one again. I used half semi sweet and half milk chocolate for the chocolate chips. I also used another raters suggestion and used 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of vanilla. Thanks for sharing this!

Wazzu Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2014
Great recipe! I only add one or two jalapenos and omit the habanero. Hot sauce can be added per serving to suit ones liking. I also use two cans of chili beans and one can of black beans.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
I had a lovely breakfast this morning thanks to these scones. I mixed gently and until just incorporated and ended up with wonderfully airy scones. I wanted to include vanilla extract, but I was all out. However, I did add 1/4ts of almond extract. I included some lemon zest and fresh blueberries I had on hand. Thank you for the recipe.

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Super easy to whip together anytime. I made them into thumb print cookies. I rolled them into small balls and then placed an indention in the top of each. Then I topped some with a cherry from cherry preserves and others with red raspberry preserves. Easy to modify these to your liking.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
Yum! This recipe is delicious! I decreased the amount of olive oil. I used just enough to nicely coat the bottom of my pan. I also increased the amount of cajun seasoning to 1 tablespoon. We have andouille sausage here in north Florida. It adds a nice flavor to the beans, so use it if you can find it. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you!

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
I usually make turkey meatballs, but I thought I would give these a try. Wow! yummy! They turned out super moist and flavorful. I got side tracked and forgot to add the onions and they were still delicious. I didn't have seasoned bread crumbs on hand, so I added some additional salt, pepper, and italian seasoning. I baked them for approximately 12 minutes and finished them in a pan with some sauce. I will be making these again. Thanks for the recipe!

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
Fantastic! I've made thise twice now. I use more beef and broccoli than the recipe calls for, so I double the sauce. I recomend using using New York strip instead of beef round. Yummy and tender! I serve this with a vegetable fried rice from this site. Couldn't ask for a more perfect asian inspired meal.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Delicious. I followed the advice of other reviewers and made a few alterations. I used bacon grease instead of vegetable oil. I also omitted the water and used chicken broth. I added 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin.

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
Yummy pork chops. I used 4 thick chops and the amount of sauce for 8 servings. Before baking I floured the chops, seasoned them with (garlic powder, onion powder, a little paprika, and salt and pepper), then lightly browned them. I baked the chops at 375 for approximately 35 minutes. Once out of the oven I removed the chops from the baking dish and added some cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Served with white rice it made a quick and tasty meal.

Fresh Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
Simply the best pineapple upside down cake I've ever had. It was gooey, rich, and super moist. The only modification I made was adding some marachino cherries along side the pineapple. It took 25 minutes for mine to bake, but I have an oven that works overtime. Thank you for this recipe.

Mojo Roast Chicken (Pollo Asado)

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
Delicious recipe. I doubled the marinade since I placed the chicken whole in a large bowl in the fridge. I ran short on olive oil, so I used 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup canola oil. Almost the entire chicken was covered, although half way through I turned the chicken. I marinaded the chicken for a total of 10 hours. Before roasting the bird (whole) I sprinkled the skin with a little paprika. I followed the instructions on this site for roasting a chicken using the high heat method. I highly recommend this as it results in a nice crispy skin. I'll be making this again. Thank you!

Baked Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
Delicious chicken which is quick and easy to prepare. I added some dried basil, oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder to the bread crumbs. It was just the right amount of lemon flavor. This will be a regular in my house. Thanks!

Annemarie's Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
These are superb. I followed some of the other reviewers and doubled the amount of filling while leaving the crust as is. I also baked the crust for 15, instead of 20 minutes. I upped the lemon juice to about 1/2 a cup instead of the 1/3 cup that would be needed when doubling the filling. It made a tart filling which was great with the sweetness of the crust.

Peach Upside Down Cake I

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
Fantastic recipe for fresh peaches. I used fresh peach slices that I sprinkled with a little sugar and water the night before use. Since I did not have nutmeg I substituted it with 1/4ts of cinnamon. I poured most of the liquid from the peaches in the bottom of the pan. To the batter I included 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract, and a tablespoon of the peach juice. My oven cooks quickly, so it was done in 30minutes. It came out just wonderfully. My husband and I loved this cake.

Calzone

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
My husband raved out these calzones. I used a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment instead of a bread machine. I allowed the dough to rise in a warm oven and then rolled out the dough. I also added some dried basil, oregano, and a pinch of garlic powder to the dough. I made two large rectangular calzones and had left over dough. I sealed the dough and froze it for future use. In the calzone I added some ricotta cheese to the mix. Its a versatile dough so you could be creative with the filling. My husband requests that we have these again soon. Thanks for the recipe.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I love these pancakes. No boxed mix can come close to these. I've made them a few times now and they are fluffy and delightful. Yesterday I added some fresh blueberries I had on hand and they were superb. I divide the batter into about 5 large pancakes, 3 for my husband and 2 for myself. Easy to make and just perfect.

Guluptsie (Cabbage Rolls)

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
A great starter recipe. I used 1.5 pounds of ground beef and 1 pound of ground pork. Since I reduced the portion of meat, I also reduced the amount of rice to 1.5cups. To perk up the flavor I used 4 cloves of garlic. I also seasoned the meat well when cooking, with onion powder, garlic powder, a pinch of celery seed, salt and pepper. To the meat/rice mixture I included a few splashes of V8 (until moistened). To the tomatoes I substituted the chicken broth for water in which the cabbage was cooked in. I also added approximately a cup of V8 to the tomato sauce. I only made one pan and it cooked perfectly in 1.5 hours. Served with sour cream and it made a delightful meal with plenty of left overs.
