Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
Yummy. I made minimum changes, mostly out of necessity. But mostly I made it as is, and it was a satisfying meal. I dredged the patties in flour before frying them. I didn't have seasoned salt, so I used plain salt in the meat and omitted it in the gravy. No sherry, so I tried the hint of replacing with homemade vanilla extract. I doubled the gravy (but didn't double the extract).

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I only made two slight changes and we enjoyed the meal. I used pork chops, cooking themlong enough to ensure they were done. I also added garlic powder to the flour. Otherwise, the recipe was good as is.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

These are delicious and relatively simple. I halved the recipe with no problem, making the balls slightly smaller. I made absolutely no other changes.

One Bowl Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
Very smooth and creamy. I added 1/4 tsp salt per another reviewer's suggestion but I think I'll leave it out next time. Very simple yet tastes authentic.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
Not the best Shepherd's Pie I've had, but a good solid one. I like the idea of adding mashed carrots.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Very yummy. I boiled everything in chicken stock, then added 1/4 cup of the stock to the pie during assembly. The only extra seasoning I added was garlic powder, and I pre-baked the bottom crust for 5 minutes. My husband said it's the best pot pie he has ever had.

Blueberry Lemon Walnut Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
A good bread. A little dense but with good lemon flavor. I used dried lemon zest and skipped the glaze, since the bread would not be served immediately.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
Delicious. Nicely sweet. I made only 3 pork chops but made the sauce as if for 6. I covered for the first 30 minutes. No other changes, and it is a keeper for my family.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
A pretty good casserole.Funnnily enough, the only fish lover in the house didn't enjoy it. On the other hand, the kids ate it without complaint. Next time I might switch out potato chips for breadcrumbs/butter/cheese - leftovers are rather soggy. I did mix all cheese in the casserole and had no problem with dryness.

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
They were quick to throw together, which is what I was looking for. I did have to add seasonings in and on top in order to improve the flavor.

Hot Dog a la Potato

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Good meal for a night in with the kids. After adding the cheese, rather than turning the oven off I broiled them for 5 minutes. They were nicely brown and toasty.

Weeknight Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
Wew liked this a lot. It has a sweetness, which my husbdan loves, and a bit of tartness from the mustard, which I love. The only addition I did was to salt and pepper ther pork chops before frying.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
The flavor was very enjoyable. Based upon others' concerns, I went ahead and doubled the broth mixture. Make sure everything is submerged in the liquid, or it won't cook.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
A good cake. As with any zucchini cake, it tastes best if you let it sit a day. I threw in a handful of milk chocolate chips, because I had some to use up. It added a nice texture.

These were good but far too puffy and not as moist as some fritters.

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
A good soup. I used alphabet noodles, frozen corn and frozen broccoli. It made so much that I froze half of it. I used a 2 oz. box of onion soup mix (2 1-oz. packages) and it was perfect.

Zucchini Crisp

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
I thought the sugar was just right, and it tasted good. However, by the next day a great deal of liquid had leached out. A thickening agent might be helpful.
