Savory Caribbean-Inspired Sweet Potato Cakes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
Simply Amazing. I'm a huge fan of potato cakes, and an even bigger fan of sweet potatoes! So was really excited to try this recipe. Flavor was amazing. I followed the recipe completely EXCEPT I found the mixture to be too wet and in reading some of the comments I figured it would have the same problem of falling apart that others had ran into. To fix this I added 1egg and around 1/4 cup of flour to give it a little body. They fried to a perfect golden color. The outside was perfectly crispy and the inside was still creamy and amazing! Even the hubby says they were a 5 star! We will definitely be having these again!

Sourdough Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
These were amazing. I was a little concerned the sourdough taste would be overwhelming (my starter is a very strong one). However, I was pleasantly surprised. These were light, fluffy, and had an amazing flavor. I did add a little flour as my batter was so thin that I'm not sure it would have made crepes, and I added about a teaspoon of vanilla. With syrup these were some of the best pancakes that I've made!

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
Very good. Light and delicious. I added onions and garlic to the dough as well as on top of it. Made two loaves, gave one to friends and kept one for my husband and myself. Will definitely make this one again!

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
I've made these several times. I usually end up having to add an extra 1/4 cup of water as the dough is too dry. I also add a little of my seasoning to the dough prior to letting it rise in my bread machine. I divide them into 6 instead of 9 bagels and allow them to rise an extra 30-60minutes (until doubled in size) Other than that I Follow directions pretty closely. I've been topping these with dried minced onions, rosemary, and salt. My husband swears these are the most flavorful bagels he's ever had, and I'm inclined to agree! Even the bottom of the bagels have more flavor than most bagels I've tasted!!! They have an amazing texture and aren't tough/chewy like a lot of bagels are. These have quickly become something we keep on hand!

WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
These turned out amazing, I accidentally added the sugar to the rest of the dry ingredients but it turned out just fine. I baked part of the batter and froze the rest for later since its just my husband and myself. They were fluffy, soft and just tasted amazing!

Onion Mustard Buns

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
These were amazing, I changed it a little bit instead of dried minced onion I used dry onion soup mix and omitted the salt. They turned out amazing and were the perfect compliment to the smoked pulled pork served on them. I will definitely be making these again.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
One of the only reasons I prefer Macaroni Grill to other Italian restaurants is because of their bread. This recipe is even better than theirs! I just made a loaf of this, and am rather pleased with it. It is amazingly fragrant, and delicious! I will definitely be making this again!
