I'm a single guy living in Japan. Pretty much a self-taught cook. Keep in mind when you look at my recipes that I don't have access to an oven and I don't really use measurements, just do most of it by eye.

Spicy chicken, yakisoba, spaghetti.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up I would watch my grandmother as she cooked and she would rarely use measuring tools, so that bad habit (or good depending on how you look at it) is all her fault.
My cooking triumphs
Coming up with my spicy chicken recipe. I now make it at least once a week.
My cooking tragedies
Lately, I seem to have a lot of trouble cooking eggs. Don't know why because I used to be great at it.
