Beefy Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
I used neufchatel cream cheese (lighter version) and increased to 1 package. Made dip a perfect consistency to dip with tortilla chips. Very hearty and tasty dip.

Chicken Nacho Tacos

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
I'm not much on canned meat so I put boneless chicken breasts (5) in the crock pot with chicken broth for 9 hours on low while I was at work. When I got home I removed chicken from crock pot, shredded and then followed recipe minus chili powder. My kids don't like spicy food so the Fiesta Nacho Cheese sauce was spicy enough for us. I did use 2 cans of cheese add 1/2 can of milk for the consistency we like. It's not gourmet, but it was quick, easy and tasty!

Pig Picking Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
I made mine in a 9x13 pan. The consistency of the cake was great - very moist, but it lacked enough flavor for me to rate it 5 stars. I recommend making a trial run at this recipe before planning to serve for an event/special occasion. I think it is an acquired taste.

Best Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Definitely 5 stars with the suggestion to add 3 oz of cubed processed cheese (Velveeta) to the mixture while heating to mix flavors. Baked with shredded cheddar on top with onion. Way better than any other version of this I have had in the past.

Southwestern Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
I made this as a main summer dish with the addition of shredded chicken and substitution of brown rice and my favorite salsa (combo of medium and hot) instead of the tomatoes called for in the recipe. Yummy!

Easy and Quick Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
This was very good and loved by all the guys in my house! I only used ONE can of tomatoes - four would be way too much! I cooked it in the crock pot on high for 5 hours and it was VERY tender.

Restaurant Style Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This recipe is good, but not great. It is guick and easy, but takes a little too salty for me and I didn't add any salt. I doubled the recipe and used cheddar, monterey jack, Velveeta and half and half. It was very cheesy (loved by the kids), but almost too cheesy for the adults in my house. I can see by the consistency that it would not reheat well tomorrow so I didn't keep the leftovers (something I hate to do). Next time, I'll stick with the baked macaroni and cheese.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
I made this for my picky husband and kids and it was a winner!! The only sub I made was Cream of Chicken instead of Mushroom because they hate mushrooms and I used a chardonnay. I made 8 pork chops and doubled the ingreadients for the sauce. Served it with homemade macaroni and cheese (on this site) and vegetable medley. The pork chops were so tender you didn't need a knife! I highly recommend this recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
My husband rated this 5 stars and he is a picky eater. I was skeptical about the dressing because I normally bake my chicken and dressing, but due to needing to do some holiday shopping I tried it. I followed the advice to reduce the chicken broth and only used 24 oz. and that was plenty. I cooked 2 1/2 hours on LOW and 30 mins on HIGH before serving. This recipe turned out very moist, but not too wet. I also added poultry seasoning and no salt (the soup adds enough for us). I highly recommend this recipe as a crock pot recipe to keep!

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Served this tonight and my family raved about it! I did omit the corn syrup because the honey mustard was sweet enough without it. Everything else I followed to a "t" and it was great!! I served with a salad and baked potato and it was a quick, easy meal. Definitely a keeper!!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
This is "OMG!" good! I used two 2-lb. pork roasts (they were on sale) and used garlic powder, salt and pepper rub on roasts before adding to beef broth in crock pot. I cooked on high for 4 hours and the meat was incredibly tender and moist. After I shredded the meat, I emptied crock pot of broth and added shredded pork and barbeque sauce to heat on low for 5-8 minutes while I prepared the sides. Finally, I used the "Sweet Restaurant Slaw" recipe on here by Sandi Johnson (made it this morning when I put pork in crock pot) and topped it on the pork and made pork sandwiches. The slaw was also a 5+ and tasted as good as, or better, than the one that large chicken chain serves. I highly recommend both!!

My family loved this recipe! I used the leftover chicken on a spinach salad the following day. The only change I made was to omit the oregano and green onion and used chopped fresh cilantro.

Oven-Roasted Vegetables

These roasted vegetables are GREAT! I followed the other reviewer by using the plastic bag and it works much better than combining ingredients in the roasting pan. I also only roasted my veggies 15 minutes. The taste is nutty and delicious!

Easy Sausage Stuffing

I also increased the liquid to 3 cups chicken broth and used crumpled homemade cornbread instead of the package mix. I served this for a Christmas buffet serving 30 adults and doubled the recipe. I received SO many compliments!!
