Lady Sparkle & Magnolia Blossom's Excellent Indiana Adventure

So let me tell you the "real" story of Lady Sparkle and Magnolia Blossom's adventure...

Although the day was dreary and rainy, when I arrived at Lady Sparkle's house the sun was shining, there was a rainbow, and the birds were singing. Well not really, I'm just really good at BS, but her smile sure brightened my day.

A good hostess, LS served me a piece of her Crustless Cranberry Pie. So as not to be rude, I took a little nibble. Well it was just so awful that I had to eat it quickly to get it over with. (More BS, it was delicious and a very welcome breakfast of champions after a long drive.) We proceeded to Aldi's to pick up some snacks for our adventure, and of course, cranberries for LS. Thank God they had plenty on hand. Lady Sparkle throwing a conniption fit in the middle of the store wouldn't have been a pretty site.

Anyhoo, we were on our way to Nashville, IN in Brown County - a very artsy, craftsy community. Wow, no kidding... it was awesome. Blown glass, stained glass, hand crafted furniture, pottery, jams, jellies and more. Oh, and wine... Mustn't forget the beverages.

Here's my Lady Sparkle! She really "sparkles" doesn't she?

Not only does she sparkle in the daytime, she sparkles at night too! This gives the phrase "Sparkle Britches" a whole new meaning! I might add that I don't have Magnolia Blossoms across MY rear end.

Lady Sparkle already relayed our time at the Muddy Boots Cafe. Seriously, I was waiting for Maynard G. Krebbs to make an appearance with his bongos.

When we posted that we were in Nashville, many kind folks here volunteered to watch news reports and gather bail money if needed. LS did make a visit to the jail, but she was released on her own recognizance.

A few more cute photos... Candice - this first one's for you!

(My kitchen's messy, how about yours?)

Ahem, a little Magnolia magic...

A great lunch in Nashville, IN... Bacon & cheese quiche with ham & potato soup. Yum!

She's the Thelma to my Louise... (without driving over the cliff at the end!)

We had an absolutely wonderful time and we are thrilled that we had the chance to share with you. For those that may not know, Lady Sparkle and I roomed together at the Vegas Blowout. Only living 3 hours away, I knew I had to get together again before bad weather hit. I am so glad I did. We are already looking forward to the next meet and who else we can drag along! Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Magnolia Blossom - thank you for sharing your excellent adventure. More than likely, I will never get to visit Nashville, IN in my lifetime, but thanks to you and Lady Sparkle I feel as if I have. Lady Sparkle are you sure you are not an active Arts/Crafts member of this little village? Your outfit is gorgeous - you are very talented. Maynard G Krebbs - haven't heard that name in forever - most of the peeps on here are asking WHO is Maynard G Krebbs? Thanks for sharing and so glad you were able to meet again to just enjoy life!

What a wonderfully fun blog written in true Magnolia Blossom style! I'm so happy you two got to "DO" Nashville! I love that place. I sure hope you bought those "sparkle" britches Lady Sparkle. It's like someone made them for you. The sign that says "A Good Friend Will Bail You Out Of Jail, A True Friend Will Be Sitting Next To You Saying, ", That Was Fun!" That's the kind of friends AR Peeps are. OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS SAKES! Those Cupcakes look devine! And, Maynard G.Krebs.... that's hilarious. Haven't thought about Doby Gillus in ages. Still very jealous, but so happy you two got to get together. I miss you Mags!

Dec. 8, 2011 7:42 am
Ooooops, got edited by AR. But, you get the drift. Dam

Dec. 8, 2011 7:49 am
Candice. . .I found those "britches" days before we went on our trip and snatched them up right away!! I started packing my bag that day. It WAS like they were made for me, LOL!!! The hilarity NEVER STOPPED! Best medicine! And, thank you all for the compliments on my sweater! :)

Dec. 8, 2011 10:09 am
oh my, Maynard G. Krebbs I name a cat my mepaw had Maynard because he had a goatee mark on his chin. LOL.

Dec. 8, 2011 10:49 am
I AM FREAKIN LOVING THIS, yes I yelled. I rarely yell unless the music is too loud (and it's never too loud) and I don't run unless there is a fire. Anyway I LOVE the pants, I thought our Sparkle Britches found material and sewed them herself, no matter GREAT stuff. I am so happy for you MB that you finished the blog. I noticed your thread last night but could be no help as I have only recently added pics to the bottom of the blog. A clean kitchen, hhhmmm what a wonderful thought-I can't believe it can happen unless one is never in it. My kitchen is messed, my papers are piled, my dust has settle in its right place and I am fine with that. I keep moving the dust, and it keeps relocating, who am I to argue with it? Thanks for giving me a good belly laugh this morning:D

Dec. 8, 2011 12:41 pm
LMAO - I absolutely LOVE the sparkle britches!!! I am now on a mission to find britches with Magnolia Blossoms across the rear end! And I hope I'm one of the lucky ones that can get "dragged along next time you two meet up. Wonderful, blog, Lora!!

Dec. 8, 2011 1:40 pm
Someone needs to buy the sparkle britches and bedazzle them for LA for Christmas - lol!

Dec. 8, 2011 2:28 pm
OK Thelma & Louise - - I still have my bail money in hand in case you two sneak out and paint the town red again!!! You two are like my teenagers whom I had to tie a bell to the window to hear when they were sneakin out at night!! What a pair - - and wouldn't want you to change for the world!!! Loved every picture and every word!! Don't wait for the bucket to get up and kick ya in the butt before you two pick another destination spot for another adventure. In case ya'll want to head south to Florida - come on down!! I'll keep the light on!!

Dec. 8, 2011 2:57 pm
Hugs right back at ya Sparkle Britches!

Dec. 8, 2011 2:58 pm
Maridele, if you have ever been to Gatlinburg, TN area, this is very much like their arts/crafts community.

Dec. 8, 2011 2:59 pm
mickdee - LOL! Maynard G. Krebbs was more when I was very young. I was more of the Gilligan's Island generation. And for all of those that commented on Lady Sparkle's sweater - she made the pants and over-skirt too! She got a lot of good ideas from our window shopping.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:00 pm
Love you too Marianne! Thanks for commenting.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:01 pm
WW - I'd love to get out your way again. Ran out of time in October, darn it. I love watching karaoke, but there is not enough liquor in the world to get me to do that.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:01 pm
Terry, you are right. Great people here...

Dec. 8, 2011 3:02 pm
BN - you are so right, what a PITA it was to get this thing right. You make it look so easy! Thanks for stopping by.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:03 pm
Shearone, thanks for commenting and glad you could get a little taste of what our weekend was like.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:03 pm
Gary, we've been trying to come up with some type of scheme to get us down there!

Dec. 8, 2011 3:04 pm
lucylove, you have no idea just how ghostly white I am. I could blind someone on a beach.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:05 pm
Candice, those cupcakes do look great, don't they? They are FAKE! Those are the kind of cupcakes I would have in my house.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:06 pm
robograndma, thanks for commenting. I can just see that cat.

Dec. 8, 2011 3:07 pm
RNG, I am so glad you stopped in. Particularly since I believe you were the one that started calling LS "Sparkle Britches". So your kitchen's messy, hmmm?? Guess that just means you're sexy!

Dec. 8, 2011 3:08 pm
Mi Being Mi, well I don't know about Magnolia Blossoms across my butt, but I did find a windchime that had magnetic inserts of magnolia blossoms (at 1/2 price too!)

Dec. 8, 2011 4:33 pm
xraybarb, we could bedazzle those britches, but they might be painful when she sits down!

Dec. 8, 2011 4:34 pm
Mike Harvey, love it! Beast of Burden. In our neck of the woods, those of the male persuasion are kindly referred to as "pack mules".

Dec. 8, 2011 4:35 pm
luv2cook, I am so glad you are keeping bail money handy. We just may need it. No doubt there will be more trips in the future! She's just a hop, skip and jump away.

Dec. 8, 2011 4:58 pm
I love these blogs the best. Seeing people who met on this site getting together and having a great time. The world would be a better place if everyone was on AR. Thanks for sharing your time with us.

Dec. 8, 2011 7:03 pm
Linda, I can honestly say I have met more people through AR (either online only or in person) that share my own interests or have compatible personalities than I have in years. All of you folks are great!

Dec. 8, 2011 7:53 pm
LS & MB, again...what a great time you too had and how I wished I could have been a fly on the wall for even just a little bit. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the 'sparkle britches', and MB, I'm with Candice......somehow, I think I would be okay with sitting next to you in a jailhouse and laughing about our good time. Nice job there Lora girl, and Carla your talents amaze me. Love you both!

Dec. 8, 2011 8:21 pm
Avon, I about fell over when I saw the "sparkle britches"! Hehe... jailbirds! I guess if we got orange jumpsuits, we could say they are AR uniforms.

Dec. 8, 2011 9:14 pm
Well orange is my favorite color so there you go...we would be stylin'. Remember my purse?

Dec. 9, 2011 6:26 am
Oooh my turn, my turn! Fantastic blog!!! Mi Being Mi could stop and pick me up and we could head your way maybe we could drag bhawk with us for next time:)Your adventure looked too fun! Loved the photos from both blogs! Loved that you didn't need bail money but still had a seriously good time!

Dec. 9, 2011 10:14 am
Avon, you might look good in orange, but me, not so much!

Dec. 9, 2011 10:16 am
Cat, that would be great! Don't forget Mi Being Mi's DBF has family in Illinois. If not Indiana, the 2 of you could come spend the night here and we could go do something.

Dec. 9, 2011 10:17 am
Now Mike, I didn't say that. I guess it just depends on how "stubborn as a mule" they can get.

Dec. 9, 2011 12:51 pm
At the rate I'm going I will be in desperate need of an "ALL girl have fun as only fellow AR'ers can" vacation soon!!!!!!! That's right cause that is how she knew where I was since they pass thru on their way there :)

Dec. 9, 2011 2:20 pm
OMG! twice in one day I got to talk to the kid! Boy has this been the December to remember!

Dec. 9, 2011 2:57 pm
I bet a road trip with you two would be nonstop laughter! Your pictures and Sparkle's just exude laughter. Thank you both for sharing your fun with us.

Dec. 9, 2011 9:31 pm
Cat, you'll just have to get your little butt over here.

Dec. 9, 2011 9:32 pm
BSM, we did have an awful lot of laughs. Well, when you've got so much material to work with...

Dec. 11, 2011 5:16 am

Dec. 11, 2011 6:43 pm
I'd love to write a story recipe aboute these really neat, flavorful choice ingrediendably rich folks I've come to soak up sweet and soluable tidbits and smiles as I get a chance to peruse not just recipes. I can't use a cumputer very well, but I am spurred on not by just recipes alone, and when it's time to reup my sub, it's all you imaginitive cooks and sharers of living's experiences and friendships and not giving into giving up. Reach for what's good, shun what is wrong. Hold tight to forgiveness, smile in the face of despair and believe in the Hope our Creator does care. Does it sound mushy for me to say I care?

Dec. 11, 2011 7:44 pm
Wow, Am & Ad's Gram, I hope you stop back here to see my response. Your comment was wonderful and absolutely right on target. Just today I emailed Lady Sparkle and I chatted on the phone with Cat Hill, both of whom I have met at round-ups. You can find recipes pretty much anywhere on the internet, but there is a very special community here of folks that will uplift you or just brighten your day with a laugh or two. Thank you for your thoughts!

Dec. 11, 2011 9:34 pm
"sexy women have messy kitchens" I LOVE IT! lol. Glad you ladies had a great time!

Dec. 11, 2011 10:57 pm
Dbl. Wow, M.B. .Message received, read and appreciated. where is Nashville In.? we used to live in Battle Creek, Mi. But we took many rides in Ohio, Indie and Ky and Tn in the winter after we got married on some of the weekends we had all 5 of our kids. They were between 10 and 12 years old. My husband had 3 boys, I had 1girl,and an adopted boy from Newfoundland. The first year of our marriage we took many excursions. Memories abound. But I digress. I think I'm confusing Nashville In. w/ Nashville Mi, am I,Mike Harvey,It's been too long since we drove our old '68 Ford wagon w/5rascals for winter sojourns.

Dec. 11, 2011 11:01 pm
There is supposed to be a ? after mike harvey's name forgot to shift and? pardon me

Dec. 12, 2011 10:17 am
Confusion is OK! My husband overheard me talking about Nashville on the phone and thought "Good grief, they're going to Nashville?" He thought I meant Tennessee! Nashville, IN is south of Indianapolis about an hour. It would be just a beautiful area in the fall.

Dec. 12, 2011 10:19 am
Lissa, I'm just guessing that there are a lot of "sexy" cooks out there.

Dec. 12, 2011 8:06 pm

Hey, girls, you know you were close to my "neck o' the woods"! Nashville, IN is a fun place to visit. We used to go there every Friday following Thanksgiving to shop, and enjoy. The hand-blown glass ornaments were a must to collect each visit. Was that shop open when you were there?

Dec. 16, 2011 7:15 pm
Yes, Mamaw. Actually that was the first shop that we stopped in! Absolutely beautiful hand-blown glass ornaments and knick-knacks. Mamaw, I hope you check back in here. My email is magna5560@yahoo.com is you're interested in possible meeting up with some of us next spring. Lady Sparkle and I will be posting something in the spring, but I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by!
