About this Cook
I am relatively new to cooking rather than just eating prepared, or processed and easy to make foods. I like creating dishes that are healthy. I admit I do like deserts a lot, but I try to keep them healthy.
My favorite things to cook
I have found I really like sweet potatoes. The not only taste great, but they are so good for you. I also strive to eat healthfully, and I found that dark green vegetables are some of the best foods. They aren't my favorite things to eat, but I make myself eat them because they are so good for me. That being said I love the Allrecipes Easy Cheesy Chicken Bake, but I use sweet potato instead of regular potatoes. There's also broccoli in it. It's super healthy and tastes good! I also love the Squash and Sweet Potato Soup, and the Pretzel Turtles for desert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For all holidays my family has always had Cranberry Velvet at the meal.This tastes like cranberry gel, whip cream,pineapple chunks, and nuts. It's delicious, and we've been eating it long before I was born.
My cooking triumphs
When I cook something people usually say it's good, but my mom was raving over my Squash and Sweet Potato Soup. I was especially thrilled to hear this because it was so difficult and time consuming to cut up a squash and raw sweet potatoes; It was nice to get more than a pat on the back for all that work!
My cooking tragedies
In my old apartment I had a cabinet above the stove. I am very short and had to step on my tippy toes and lean over the stove to reach the cabinet. I was cooking something, and I needed something out of that cabinet. I'm sure you can imagine what happened next. Luckily nothing was burnt besides the shirt and sweatshirt I was wearing.

Southern Ham and Brown Beans
The thing I didn't like about the recipe is that the liquid burned out after 4.5 hours. It was also kind of bland I thought.

Quinoa with Asian Flavors
Bit salty and overpowering soy sauce taste I thought next time I'll use half as much sauce requested . Really good otherwise.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I
After many modifications suggested in many other reviews, and a few of my own, they turned out well. For someone who has never made cookies from scratch this recipe and reviews of the recipe is a gook place to start. I reduced the recipe to half and I still reduced the flour to 2 cups instead of 2 1/2 as suggested. I halved the amount of brown and white sugar and added a little bit of honey. I used baking powder rather than soda I doubled the spices suggested, and added some apple butter I happened to have. I thought they weren't spicy enough, and kind of thick. My neighbors loved them though!
