Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
Another 5 Star review! Really, you can't miss on this one. It comes out great baked at 350 the whole time. The first time I made this, I put the cinnamon into the syrup mixture and poured 2/3s into the apples and 1/3 on top. It was delicious but the syrup was very dark brown and made the crust looked overcooked. The second time I mixed some cinnamon into the apples before pouring the syrup in. I did the same as before, 2/3s mixed into the apple and 1/3 on top. Used a lattice crust both times and the second time it *looked* much better. It was delicious both ways but I liked the presentation better the second way. Oh and it is better to let it set up a while before eating it. Grab a piece before you let the family know you've made it or you might miss out! Happy Baking!

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
This is the same potato salad passed down through generations in our family. It is the Perfect potato salad. IMO, we step it up a notch by taking a clove of garlic and rubbing it all over the bowl before putting the ingredients in it. We also use green onions instead of regular. Yum, can't wait to have some tomorrow - it always tastes better the second day!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Loved this recipe. I was worried about the sweetness factor so I used tomato sauce without sugar in place of the ketchup. Worked great! Everyone ate it right up and my youngest DS asked if we could start having this every week! Thanks Laurie!

Turkey Broccoli Hollandaise

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This is a terrific dish with either chicken or turkey (I've used both!). Even my picky eater sons ate a helping! We'll be making it regularly around here!

Chinese Chicken Casserole Surprise

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2004
Yum, this was very good - I followed advice and tweaked it a little bit. I sauteed the chicken in garlic and soy sauce. Then I mixed together a can of cream of chicken soup and a can of cream of asparagus soup (all I had in the cabinet). I kept everything else the same and put the crunchy noodles on top. I guess the asparagus soup added the zip it needed cause I got rave reviews on this one - I'll make it again.

Easy Minute Steaks

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2004
Love this recipe - very easy and very good. I usually make 6-8 steaks due to family size so I use 2 cans of soup and an extra can of water. I also sprinkle a package of onion soup mix on top. My husband actually went to the store and bought the steaks and brought them home for me to cook this way - that's how much he liked them.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: May 7, 2003
This was a great lasagna. Not as time consuming as others and worth the time you do spend. I added an extra can of paste and then added a 'can' of burgundy wine to the sauce before it simmered. Added a delighful yet complex flavor. This one is a keeper, for sure!
