Classic Tiramisu
This recipe is the closest I have found to that we made while working in a little neighborhood restaurant in Italy. Interestingly, the Italians rarely use liquor in their tiramisu recipes, just the expresso. So I changed this recipe a little to do a 50 / 50 compromise with Kaluha and expresso. i also dipped each ladyfinger quickly on both sides in the mixture to give a little more flavor instead of brushing them. I then laid them on a rack to await assembly. It did not take nearly the number of ladyfingers that was asked for in the recipe, but mine might have been longer cookies. Lastly, I garnished the recipe with chocolate covered expresso beans and my dinner party guests thought it was the best Tiramisu they had ever tasted. And several are world travelers and had had tiramisu at some of the top restaurants around Europe. It also received rave reviews from second graders and their Italian teacher when I took it to their class for Italian Day. Finally, it was so good, my Pilates instructor gave me a free training session for bringing her a sample - and this is a woman who swears you should NEVER have refined sugar in your diet!!!
