Caribbean Slaw

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2014
Made this last night to go with Jerk chicken and coconut black bean rice, and everybody loved it including my picky DH! I added an extra TBSP of cider vinegar and used honey instead because I had no agave syrup, and everyone raved- the perfect pairing with any spicy entree! Great recipe- thank you!

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This is THE best brine ever! We used this before smoking a couple of Butterball frozen turkey breasts (netted kind). I reduced kosher salt only because this turkey has already been "marinated" or injected with seasoned solution to keep moist-and it turned out fantastic! Hubby took to work and his co-workers are now requesting it for the Christmas buffet...one even asked him if he would smoke her turkey for home! Tried several other brines but this is far and away the best! Cant wait to do a "real" turkey with this- thanks for the EXCELLENT recipe :)

Special Lobster Bisque

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Very delicious and easy! I made a few changes too- added 1/2 cup dry white wine, used 2 cups each of heavy cream, milk, and chicken broth (in which I simmered the lobster shells for 10 min). YUMMY

WOW! What an awesome recipe- and very versatile...read some suggestions from other reviewers and added cucumber, also some shredded carrot and radish. Yummy! Thanks for the advice on dipping the rice wrappers until just soft- worked perfectly. Thanks Paula for the great recipe!

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
Yummy & easy! I had been looking for a no bean recipe, and tweaked this one a bit by adding 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp allspice, and a 4 oz can green chilies- fantastic! Don't usually do that on the first time I test -drive a recipe, but it certainly worked out this time. THANKS for the awesome recipe Gina!

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Excellent recipe!! Made it for Christmas and everyone LOVED it! Very moist- used walnuts but next time I'll use pecans. I refrigerated it for 2 days- didn't hurt it a bit. Also used wooden skewers to make holes in the top to let the glaze soak in- made lots of holes- worked well! Thanks for the great new favorite!!

Karyn's Cream of Crab Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Just made this and had to review it- it is unbelievably easy and delicious! I was looking for a chowder with potatoes and corn, and when I read the ingredients in this recipe, I was intriqued by the use of hollandaise sauce mix so I tried it. Used 2 tbsp of Old Bay after reading other reviews, and added 1 cup white sweet corn and 2 cups diced Yukon Gold potatoes. Didn't have any sherry- but next time I make this I will definitely use it! My picky BF loved it and so did I!! Thanks for the great recipe Karyn!

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Delicious and easy to make! Made these for a Golden anniversary party for some dear friends- and these disappeared! Use a sturdy tortilla- I used an authentic locally made tortilla which tasted good but was very flaky and when I rolled them the tortillas weren't quite "tough" enough and began to flake. Next time I will use a national brand type tortilla because I find them not to be as tender- a little easier to roll. Thanks for the great recipe!

Summer Salad with Cumin-Crusted Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
We loved this salad! Fresh and delicious, followed the recipe to a "T". I think I'll try adding a little orange zest to the dressing next time, just to give it a little more orange flavor. Thanks for the great recipe :)

Basil Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
Wow! So easy and so delicious! Tweaked it a bit and only used olive oil instead of butter/oil combo, increased the garlic because we are both garlic lovers. Definitely use fresh basil-taste is worth it. I grilled them on bbq for about 3 minutes per side on med high- perfection! Thanks for the outstanding recipe- it's a keeper!

Chipotle Shrimp Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Good stuff! I cut recipe in half and used 2 chipotles, pretty darn spicy- which I like but my partner said was a little too spicy- he thought one would have been enough. Really easy, quick to prepare and delicious!

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
We loved the sauce- great combo of spices! I used Napa cabbage which has a milder flavor and texture similar to iceberg lettuce. I also grilled the fish with sea salt, black pepper and a light sprinkle of garlic powder before grilling. Thanks for this fantastic recipe!!
