Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
Oh my goodness, yum! Follow the directions exactly, though. I added a little chicken broth (based on reviews) because the sauce seemed too thick before baking, but it got thinner during the baking process. Will make many times again, but will probably double the sauce (because I love sauce!). Will also try it in the crock pot per other reviews. Thank you!

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
Good enough to eat, but not to repeat. Followed the recipe to a tee. It was definitely easy, but it had a bit of a sour and/or chemically taste. We suspect the cheddar cheese soup. I am not "anti-canned soup" and have used the other two soups many times, nor did I put in too much sour cream, so I think that must be it. Might try to tinker with it, but I already have a good Chicken a la King recipe and it's basically the same.

Maybe with a lot of tweaking, but too much work to mess with again.

Terry's Texas Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
These beans took over 24 hours to cook! By then, I had to add so much water they were quite flavorless. I'm giving it an extra star on the chance that I had defective beans, if there is such a thing.

Middle Eastern Rice with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
Has potential. If I made it again, I would half the cayenne and double all the other spices. Also reduce broth to 2 1/2 cups and only use 1 can of each bean. I think that might do it, but my husband is not willing to try it again.

Just can't understand what all the raves are for. I even doubled the sauce, but it was SOOOO bland. Very disappointing.

Mushroom Orzo

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Oh my goodness, yummy! I did use chicken broth instead of water, chopped onions instead of pearl (bcs I'm lazy) and canned mushrooms (bcs my fresh ones had gone bad - would be even better with fresh). Next time will replace wine with chicken broth bcs hubby doesn't like. Thanks!!

Vernita's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Not bad, not great. I did add 1/2 c. additional water but it could have used another 1/2 c (1 total cup extra) easily. Took 1 hr 15 minutes to cook. Definitely needs salt and pepper. Not sure if I'll try again.

Blackberry Apple Pie

Very yummy. Mine came out quite soupy, though - not sure why. I did put in the cornstarch. Could a regular top crust vs the lattice account for this??

Winter Vegetable Hash

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I love these vegetables, but this was a big bowl of bland mush. I even added the Worcestershire and balsamic that others suggested and the flavors just disappeared. What a waste of a LOT of time.

Yum, yum, yum. I used 1 each red, green, and yellow peppers and 1/2 onion instead of the frozen, and added 1 tsp each salt and pepper. Gotta have the egg. So yummy!

Texas Jambalaya

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Great flavor, but too spicy for us (and we like spicy) and the rice took an additional 20 minutes to cook so it all got a little mushy. Will try again, though, with mild Rotel and cooking the rice separately.

Very good. I needed a little more kick and had to double the listed spices plus add some pepper and garlic. Great way to get veggies without eating yet another salad.

Yummy! Go easy on the thyme as it can overpower the soup.
