To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
Outstanding. Perfect flavor. Don't overcook (20 minutes was undone - 25 minutes was overdone). Per other reviews, I tried brown sugar for the topping - does not work well. Brown sugar is too dense for these light muffins - although maybe that was because my butter was slightly melted . . . . I still need to work on getting the topping right, but that's on me. This recipe is great!

Quite bland and slightly sweet. Doesn't work for us.

Jo-Ann's Power Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
Well, Power Bars is an accurate description. These are healthier than the store-bought power bars, but they don't taste much better and they have that same weird texture.

Gorgonzola Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Surprisingly non-descript, and I was so excited to try them, too. Maybe a touch of honey? I did use my oil-mister for the first time and the bread came out perfect, though. So, there will be bruschetta in the near future.

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
None of the store bought granola's are quite right (not to mention the expense), so I finally resorted to making it. This is the best! Not too sweet, and I took another reviewer's suggestion of not stirring so that it would be chunky. Yum, yum!

Onion Barley Casserole

So good! Even my anti-health-food husband said, "I revise my earlier disdain," and went back for thirds!

Sugar Glazed Walnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Very easy and great taste, but not quite there on the texture. Even after cooling completely, they were still not crunchy - slightly mushy. Will try again and put them in the oven for a bit.

Spicy Glazed Pecans

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I was going to give this 4 stars because at first they taste uninteresting and it was difficult to get them all covered. BUT, as I sat down to write the review, I could not stop eating them! A little too spicy for me (and I like spicy), but my tongue will just have to suffer. These are addictive. Somebody take them away, please . . .

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
So yummy. Great as is and easy to alter if desired. The second time I subbed 1/2 c. applesauce for the banana & oil per other reviews and increased sugar to 1 c. (bcs applesc was unsweetened), used all whole wheat flour and all brown sugar, added strawberries with the bb. So yummy - going back for my 3rd right now!

The Real Reuben

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
Sorry, this did not work. I even followed ChefSingleDad's suggestions to get it to come out crispy. They weren't soggy, but I still had to fry them in the pan. If you're going to eat this many calories, it has got to be good.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Followed instructions as is except added 1 extra cup of choc chips. I just didn't think it would cover the whole thing. Hubby LOVES them! The first one busted when I tried to get it out of the pan, but all the others came out beautifully. Next time I will wait 10-15 minutes before cutting and definitely crush the graham crackers finely. My husband loves you, Justine.

Chicken Asparagus Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
This just did not work for us. I was worried about the tarragon, but I couldn't even taste it for all the lemon. The asparagus looked like it had been beaten up, too. We'll be lucky to get the leftovers eaten.

Chicken Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
So good! I only used 1/2 cup butter and a splash of milk to give enough moisture to the stuffing. (As much as I love butter, I couldn't bring myself to put in more than 1 stick.) Otherwise followed to a T. Can't believe it tasted so good. Even my finicky husband agreed.

Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
I love tomato soup, but can no longer tolerate the sweetness and often chemical taste of canned soups. This recipe is what I have been looking for. My only tweaks were to reduce hot sauce by 1/2, add 1/2 tsp more salt, and add 3/4 tsp sugar (to eliminate the tang/sourness). With tweaks, definitely 5 stars. Yummy!

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
So not good. The spices are just off. I think it's the oregano. Would probably be fine with regular chili seasoning, but that would be a different recipe.

Slow Cooker Lentils and Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Quite good and super easy! I took others' suggestions and added the sausage and tomatoes only for the last hour. I also added some chopped onion to begin with. A little salt at the end was all it needed. Too many spices overpower the sausage. It tastes better to leave the lentils more subtle and let the sausage be the strong flavor. Will definitely make again!

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Quite good. Per other reviews, I only put in 1 tsp pepper, 2 bouillon cubes, and replaced garlic salt with garlic powder. I also used cream of chicken with herbs soup. Might add some other spices next time, but even hubby was happy with this. Definitely more diet friendly that a real pot pie. Thanks!

Outstanding! So easy and so yummy. Perfect for a cold night and perfect for the diet. Even my husband gave it a thumbs up (although I had to add chicken for him). Thanks for a great recipe!!
