About this Cook
We are a young couple that loves to cook and try new food ideas. We're avid cooks and restaurant goers. We love cooking things from scratch. You'll never find a bottled barbecue sauce in our fridge!
My favorite things to cook
We just got a barbecue, so we're REALLY into grilling at the moment. He is fantastic with improvised Italian cooking, my specialty is cooking without a recipe, to clear out the foods about the go bad. Maybe I should start writing them down!
My favorite family cooking traditions
MY family is HUGE, so I just love how everyone contributes at holidays. All of the women are bustling in the kitchen, while the men round up the children, and usually watch some kind of sport on the television. He claims that letting his mom do it, is his favorite tradition, which must be why he's never opposed to letting me do it.
My cooking triumphs
I think in general, I'm really good at tasting something and being able to recreate it. So, if I like something at a restaurant, I'll have no problem making it at home.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make a Gumbo without a recipe, I had only made it once with a recipe, and I failed miserably. The result was like the child of gumbo and chili. It wasn't any good. As for my man, his would be Shark Pizza. He thought it would be awesome, and it turned out to be a complete failure.

Molasses-Glazed Pork Tenderloin
This recipe was pretty good. I would definitely suggest using less molasses and less apple cider vinegar. Probably a 1/2 cup of each, it makes a LOT of marinade. Also, try blotting the tenderloin before grilling, because the molasses has a tenancy to burn quickly. I also recommend leaving the pork a little pink in the middle, comes out much more tender and juicy.

Grilled Broccoli
This was a fabulous side dish. I loved the tang of the lemon, and the savoriness of the Parmesan. However, I did think that the recipe called for too much lemon, and not enough oil, so I'll probably alter that a wee bit next time. Overall, fantastic.
