Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2002
this was pretty good. although i used frozen green beans. i think it'd have been better with the canned like it called for. probably french style. i would add more cheese next time and salt.

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2002
I didnt care for this at all. i was raised in alaska with fresh salmon and have yet to find a recipe that makes salmon taste as great as i had growing up. my husband liked this better than i did. i liked the baked salmon II recipe ALOT better.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2002
I've been searching for a good peanut butter cookie recipe. THIS IS IT! although i didnt use the whole jar. ha. i had to 1/4th the recipe. only for my husband, 4 yr old and myself. we all loved them! next time though i'll leave out the peanuts. if i were to add them i would grind them up first. would blend in better with the soft cookies. thanks for a great recipe! i'll use this one from now on.

Grilled Scampi

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2002
This was great. although i did it a bit different. i used about a half lb of the next size down shrimp without tails. i didnt bother to slice them. i mixed up the ingredients, let them sit in it for a bit then broiled them in the oven. was delicious mixed in with my fettucinni alfredo. will make again. thanx.

Mexican Chicken Kiev

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2002
Excellent!!!! I added my own kiev recipe and wanted to try a few of the other since they were so different. this one is wonderful! it has a totally unique flavor but it very good. this goes down in my recipe book. I used pepperjack for extra kick. this could be the best recipe i've tried off allrecipies so far. try it!

Baked Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2002
i made these to freeze and rewarm for breakfasts. (skipped baking) i just put everything on the inside and froze them individually and microwave for a few minutes when ready to eat. they have an interesting and addictive flavor. i added a few jalapenos and salt for extra flavor/spice. i crave these. at first didnt know if they'd be good but they are rewarmed from the freezer and probably if you bake them they'll be good too.

Garlic Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2002
I made this recipe and the baked salmon II recipe at the same time. the baked salmon was great, full of flavor throughout the salmon. this one was great also but not as full of flavor. a little more bland but still was tasty. you really taste the good flavor of the salmon but with a nice taste on top. the other recipe was more infused in the whole flavor. probably cause the oil it calls for. this is lighter and i will probably make it again. thanx.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2002
I was a little dissapointed after all the good reviews. it was ok. the icecream is very necessary for it to be good. i'd atleast half the apples for one family to eat. i have a ton of leftovers. i cut back on the sugar like everyone said. if your crazy about apples i'd try it but if not i wouldnt bother.

Chicken Kabobs with Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
This is pretty good. the marinate is great. i have used pretty much this exact recipe for a chicken marinade for years.(except no b.sugar, more oil, and fresh shredded ginger) its good by itself for the kabobs, grilled chicken and the grilled chicken is great in green sauce chicken enchiladas.-i need to submit that one. my husbands and I's fav. the peanut sauce seemed to be "missing something" it was ok. i think i used too big of an onion and i added some sugar to try and sweeten it some. its decent but i might try to find another peanut sauce and try this again.

Slow Cooker Creamed Spinach

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
This is really good. i pureed the mixture after cooking in the crock pot for about an hour, then returned it to the crock pot. it tasted even better. my husband likes it too and isnt a big spinach fan. my 4 yr old wasnt crazy about it but anything green and squishy is going to be hard to feed him even if its good. i think other kids who dont have this issue would like it.

Butternut Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2002
This was terrible. i halved the onion and it was still very overpowered by the onion. it was way to liquidy and the flavor wasnt great. plus it was a pain to cut the skin off the squash and puree it all. not worth it to me.

Blackened Salmon Fillets

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2002
This was ok. it was a bit too buttery but the flavor is good. just didnt hit the spot or something. it might taste better on catfish. i personally prefer baked salmon or grilled- marinated with the cajun seasoning. my 4 yr old wouldnt eat it and my husband said it was "ok". it tastes better i think as cold leftovers in the fridge. it was good that way. maybe cause the butter was hard again.

Meatloaf with Fried Onions and Ranch Seasoning

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2002
This was pretty good. not the best. i have one i grew up on with maple flavored sausage in it that is the best ever w/barbeque sauce. this one tastes close to one i had at the silver diner if you've heard of it. just add some salt to the mixture before cooking. i left the foil off. my husband liked it alot, he thinks its as good as my recipe. my son whose four would barely eat it. but he's picky just cause meatloaf looks wierd i think. it would be awesome if you could make some tasty gravy with it. i had to use ketchup cause thats all i had. i did the ketchup/brown sugar glase on top also that was suggested. mostly its a tiny bit bland but if you had a good sauce or gravy itd be really good. also i might try adding the whole ranch package next time or another spice.
