Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2013
excellent. I used a cheddar jack cheese, as that what was I had on hand. I make one very similar with bacon and mushrooms, but not tomatoes, and called it Alice Springs Pizza. I think I will have to now try it with the chopped tomatoes.

Venison Pot Roast and Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
If I could rate it higher I would. This was EXCELLENT! My husband had seconds, no wait thirds. I used an Apple wood rub which already had chili powder in it, I also cut up some potatoes and added them to the casserole . Hubby kept saying how good it was, He is very picky on who and how his venison is done, and decided I can cook the venison any time. He also told me to say it was plate licking good. Thanks so much for the recipe

Brazilian Black Bean Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
I can't believe I forgot to rate this earlier. The first time I made this I didn't add any meat. Meatless Monday you know. It was excellent didn't even miss the meat. I made this this time for my Husbands game dinner, and added venison instead of the sausage. from what he told me everyone really liked it, and talked about how well the tropical fruit blended with the chili peppers and hotness, for a truly unique flavor. Thanks so much for posting.

Grandma's English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
Hooray for Grandmas and their recipes! I was a bit unsure of ratio, knowing it takes 1 cup of liquid to 4 cups of flour, but this turned out perfect. Being summer and hot I decided to cook the bread in the machine. I set it 1 1/2 lb loaf, at medium darkness, and it turned out fantastic. I will have to find some round metal cans to make this more like traditional muffins. Thanks so much for posting.

Hamburger Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I have to say I was a little leary about this, but I wanted to try something other than sloppy joes, or goulashes with ketchup, or tomato base. We all were very suprised how good this came out. the kids said it reminded them of a fast food burger. My husband said this is a keeper, and then wanted to know when I was going to make it again. This was a real life saver, at a time when I couldn't decide what to make. Thanks for posting

Rhubarb Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I made this for my husband after recieving 10 quarts of frozen rhubarb. MY pie was actually only a 4 star, but I know it is because I used frozen than fresh. DH loved the crust, and wants me to use it with other pies too.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
thanks for saving my Memorial Day Dinner. It is the end of the month, and the end of the groceries, and a Holiday. I couldn't make a salad no more lettuce, couldn't make macaroni salad no more mayo, or coleslaw. I looked in my cupboard, and thought pasta salad, but alas no italian dressing, till I saw this. Made an excellent pasta salad, cut up and used all my left over veggies, and some cheese and salami. It was wonderful, in fact a friend of min loves pasta salad, and took a bunch home with her.

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
I just got done making this, and had to get on to rate it. I am fairly new to hummus, as I am slowly changing my eating habits to lose weight. looking for low fat, low calorie ways to dip my veggies, crackers and chips in. I did follow some reccomendations of other reviewers. I added some lemon juice, cut down cumin , and added some basil. OMG this was fantastic, I could hardly stop from taste testing it.again and again, and again. Even as I am typing this the flavor still lingers, tantalizing my mouth. Which I think will help because the flavor will keep reminding me I had a snack, and it is staying with you. Thanks so much for posting will be making this often

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
Thankyou so much for posting. This was a real treat. I made it to go with my corn beef. I actually made 2 smaller loafs, one plain and one with raisins. My DH ate almost a whole loaf of the raisin himself, saying this should be illegal, something that tastes this good. He made cornbeef sandwiches with it and was in seventh heaven, sighing, and oohing throughout dinner. By the way he said to give you 10 stars, so here they are **********. I know i will be making this quite often he wants to have it for breakfasts too.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
wonderful way to cook ribs. I have par-boiled but never cooked all the way through. I changed things around quite a bit. to the water I added ketchup, brown sugar molassis, soy, a bit of mustard, and lemon juice. Kind of made it like a marinade, and cooked as stated.Every one looked at me strangely, but they came out wonderful, tender, and tasty, even the ones who are not crazy about bbque sauce had seconds, and every one was amazed how good they came out. Thank you for posting gave me another way to prepare my ribs, and so much quicker than it usually takes

Busy Day Deer

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
My husband loved this!!!! He said the gravy that it made was the best venison gravy he had ever had. I had to make a few alteration,s due to what I had on hand. I used a package of pepper and onion stirfry mix, so I browned the venison first, then added the stirfry, and I had no onion soup mix, so I added beef base, and added onion and garlic powder. He has been raving all night long about how good it was, and when will I make this again. Thanks so much for the keeper. PS. I have some venison that we canned I think I may try it with that. It is so tender, even before I put it in a pan.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
these were excellent, a bit labor intensive to make sure that they were thin enough. I think I will be making these for special occasions, and when I don't want to run out and buy some. For the most part I probably will be buying store bought they go so fast in my househould that 24 doesn't last that long. I put a couple in the microwave with some olive oil spray and salt, and cooked for 2 min. They make excellent chips too.

Wings In Cola

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
I only gave it four stars, because the method did not produce a sticky sauce but instead boiled them. I ended up taking the sauce out of dish boiling, then turned the oven up 450 and they carmelized very nicely. I love the idea of using a soda asa base. I made mine with Mountain dew, as I had no sugar cola, only diet. I loaded it up with minced garlic and onion made like a golden garlic sauce. The taste was fantastic. I will be making them again trying different sodas for different flavors. I like not to have to deep fry, as I am eliminating that from my diet. Thanks for posting this is a deinite keeper.

Cheese Puff Appetizers

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
Thumbs up from my DH. I had a taste for something different so I dedcided to give these a try, plus I wanted to bring a appetizer to a get together next week. Perfect time to try them out. They were excellent. I made a 1/2 batch to try. I used a chedder jack cheese. They had a very light, crisp taste, and the olive offset it nicely. My husband said the taste got even better when they were cool. Nice to know they don't have to stay warm. Thanks so much for posting. A definite keeper.

Shoofly Pie III

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
This is a very easy recipe, and the flavor was very good. I rated it it 4 stars for though it set up nice, the consistency was more like a cake than a pie, and the crumbles on top fell through, and left deep indents in the pie.

Layered Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
evcellent recipe. I was afraid it might of been to rich, some of the chocolate peanut butter bars can be, but these had a nice taste and texture without being too over powering. I have hid them, as everyone got into them after they cooled, and I want some for Santa Christmas Eve.

Yummy Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Now I know how this got such good reviews. Due to the reccession I decided to try and make most of my Christmas Eve get together to save on money. This cheese ball was one of them. I have to tell you my DH had to lick the bowl clean, worse than a kid with a cake bowl, and wouldn't save any for anyone else. I just finished the pecan topping, and what a beautiful presentation it makes. This is the first time I am having an after service get together and I know with recipes like this it will be a success, and hopefully a tradition that goes on. Thanks so much for posting

I made some in jelly jar containers, and some in pint containers for us. Giving away some in xmas baskets filled with homemade gifts in jars. Thanks for posting, can hardly wait to try on some toast in the morning.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I wanted to make tacos, and nacho for dinner, but I realized I had no taco seasoning. This is a very good recipe, though I wish I read further on some of the reviewers, a few were not that crazy about it, a little too spicy for them. Most however loved it, and said I can forget the storebought anytime. Thanks for saving the dinner for me.lol
