Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
Delightful, sweet, light dressing... I added an extra tbsp of sugar because I wanted it a little sweeter, and used a 1/2 tsp dijon mustard since I was out of dry mustard. also substituted white wine vinegar to add a bit more depth. wonderful!

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
I started it at 450 for 15 minutes and then dropped it to 350 for another hour and a half. It was so juicy I actually worried it was undercooked. The skin wasn't quite as crispy as I like, but it was still good. Solid recipe!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
Great recipe, I added a tsp. of vanilla and added a sprinkle of salt to give it a little more depth. I also used the full 2 tsp of cornstarch, contrary to what I read in some other reviews about using less. Turned out wonderfully!

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
I had a 1.3 lb pork loin, i marinated it in apple cider and cinnamon and cloves for about 24 hours. I roasted it for 30 minutes fat cap side up on a roasting rack above the marinade while covered in foil at 375, then removed the foil, flipped the roast, coated the other side with apple butter/sugar/spice mixture (omitted the water, used half the recommended apple butter) roasted for another 40 minutes at 350. DELICIOUS!

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
Solid recipe, I enjoyed it. I think maybe next time I might sub in brown sugar and use a bit less vinegar, I wanted something a bit more caramel-y, I think the combo of so much rice vinegar and white sugar gave it almost a burnt sugar taste. Still delicious, I'd just prefer a slightly mellower flavor.

Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
I was shocked by how easy this was to make and how delicious it turned out. I used a bag of frozen stir-fry veggies in place of the bok choy and broccoli and added a can of water chestnuts and a handful of cashews. I'm giving the sauce/cooking method 5 stars because I couldn't believe how delicious and intense the flavors were coming from so few ingredients and such easy prep! This is my new weeknight staple, thank you so much!

Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Herb-Garlic-Pepper Coating

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
I baked one filet at 350 for about 40 minutes instead of grilling (can't risk the smoke in my little apartment!) I'm giving the rub 5 stars since I didn't utilize the technique, it was DELICIOUS!

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I followed the directions exactly, even cut the sugar in half as one other reviewer recommended. I'm not sure if somehow I did something wrong but I ended up with a clumpy, weirdly sweet sauce and dried out chicken. I didn't care for this.

Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
I gave 5 stars, but I altered the recipe a LOT. I used 2 cups of bran flakes put through the food processor to break them up with a cup of skim milk and a tablespoon of lemon juice for the buttermilk. I also used 1/3 c. of applesauce and three tablespoons of eggwhites. I used only 1/2 c. of wheat flour. I added a half teaspoon of cinnamon, a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg, and cut the sugar down to about 1/2 c. dark brown sugar. I also added 1/3 c. chopped walnuts! I made 6 big muffins and baked for about 25 minutes at 375! They turned out beautifully, I can't wait to eat them for breakfast every day this week!

Cheesy Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce

I made this vegan by using some almond milk in place of regular milk, using double the olive oil and omitting the butter, using vegetable broth in place of chicken broth, and shredded soy mozzarella in place of the italian cheeses. it still turned out delicious!!

Piggies (Sugar and Cinnamon Pie Dough Cookies)

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
The first time I made this, it turned out terribly. The cookies were a thick, chalky, doughy mess. The next time I had leftover pie crust (not from this recipe, actually a storebought roll-out kind since I was in a rush, eek!) I rolled out the leftovers, spread it with crisco, mixed some extra crisco, cinnamon and sugar together, and spread the paste onto the cookies, rolled, and sliced. I sliced them about 1/4" thick instead of 3/4", sprinkled a little extra cinnamon-sugar mixture on top and baked for 6 minutes at 425 degrees. They came out tiny and crispy and flaky with a caramelized bottom... absolutely irresistible and impossible to stop eating! Fantastic recipe, the main thing is SLICE VERY THIN BEFORE YOU BAKE!
